Damn Rants has been active lately, I can't catch up but this thread is the tits.
Too bad the thread was closed, was about to go off on how I thought The King of Fighters
and Killer Instinct Gold were the best fighting games ever made
Fuck this shit.
King of Fighters all day.
This was my 'go to' custom team for the most part. Though I was always trying to get accustomed to as many players as I could. Especially the grappler types they were harder to use but very powerful, you just had to be smart and patient. I always felt that KOF took more skill than Street Fighter, tbh. Also:
Mai Shiranui's bouncy fighting stance.
I was pretty good at quite a few fighters on a local level. Now with the internet & being able to see the best of the best, especially on Capcom fighters, the guys from the West Coast are insane. No way I could compete at that level.
I was damn good at a local level. I rarely lost to anyone, be it at the arcade, laundromat or corner store. In Vancouver there are a lot of Asians and beating an Asian in any fighting game was considered more of an accomplishment. I've had Asian guys want to fight me for beating them, lol, some of them take it seriously. I don't play many Fighters anymore but I remember when I had Capcom vs SNK 2 at home none of my friends could beat me.
Oh man, Eternal Champions. Awesome that you mentioned this, whist downloading emulators recently I was trying to remember the name of this game. I couldn't remember at all, it wasn't a popular game. I remember it being pretty violent and I remember that if you beat guys a certain way something in the level would kill them in a brutal fashion. Thanks for reminding me, gonna DL this for sure.
