The rock can cut a good serious promo, he has before he returned and he has since he returned. The promo before his rumble match was terrible but the serious bits during his first in ring promo with punk were great and the promo he cut the raw before the rumble was good too. It's just that he tends to add corny lines to his promos which I will admit are indeed corny but unlike most of his detractors here, I don't think they tarnish the overall quality of his promos. In ring conditioning isn't as bad as people say here but I do agree with scrilla when he says he brought down punk and Cena to his pace in their matches with him. In terms of promos however, he brought the best out of them.
While I do think it was bad booking to put the title on him, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Plus people are starting to call him a "politician" and an "egomaniac" that never puts anyone over, LOL. How soon we forget...

Noone recently, you could make a case that he helped put over the miz by being booked to interfere in the match with Cena at Wm.
Has put over plenty of superstars in the past however Goldberg, Lesnar, Jericho, Angle etc.
and thats the problem. For as much as Dwayne claims he loves the history and the tradition of the business, he doesnt get that at his age he should be helping put guys over, not getting these sentimental title runs and victories over guys he could help make look like fucking superstars.

The guy is the same age as Rock, and realizes his best days are behind him, and that he has no need to hold another title, and it appears he doesnt have an issue losing clean to the guys who have long-term deals with the company.

You can't compare The Rock with Chris Jericho. Jericho returns almost every year and wrestles hundreds of matches if you count also house shows. The Rock returned just 2 years ago, and if you count his matches at EC and WrestleMania it will be only 5 matches in 2 years since he returned, he will probably lose the title against John Cena and that's it. He will have a tiny 2 months title reign that will go down in history like Hogan's title run in 2002 or Bret Hart's US title run in WWE and that's it, a short WWE title reign for one of the greatest WWE superstars that will not harm the business in any way, The Rock will actually only bring more prestige to the title.
What if the Rock hasn't returned? Would you be more happy that super Cena has won the title for the 345th time from Punk at the Rumble? Or Dolph Ziggler where you would probably mark out only to see him lose it after just 2 months?
If the Rock appeared and wrestles in WWE so many times like Jericho you would have a point but he will have only 5 matches in only 2 years, only 3 of them are for the title and it will consists only of 1 title win, 1 defence and 1 loss.
Jericho knows that because he appears more often in WWE than the Rock that he would be used different than the Rock, if he appeared so many times but wrestled for the title and is constantly in the main event he knows that he would be soon more hated than John Cena and a 20 times world champion so you can't compare Jericho, Kane or Mark Henry with Rock, Lesnar or Austin who don't appear very often
