The U.S. economy has sucked for 6 years.
This is not a political rant, as I basically disagree with most politicians.
This is not a whoa is me financial rant, as I am employed and while I have been laid off twice and fired once in the 22 years since I graduated college, neither has happened since 2002.
This is a something needs to be done already about the economy.I think the two biggest reasons why the U.S. economy is in the bad shape it is in are
1) For many years the U.S. forgave loans that foreign countries owed it and now the US owes other countries money.
2) Too much military spending. I am not anti-military. And yes in a post 9/11 world, defense spending
was oing to increase. But spending so much on wars overseas
I am not going to rant about taxes, since I am a CPA with a tax practice (was a part-time thing from 1999-2008 while I worked full-time elsewhere and been my full-time gig the last 5 years), so no matter whether taxes are raised for the "rich" or the "poor" or the "middle class" or small businesses, I have many clients that get hit.
Something needs to be done. Don't know the answer.
Let me make one thing clear. I do love the US and would not want to live anywhere else.

You could even believe that, I dunno, a bunch of bankers/stock market speculators could completely overestimate the future value of houses and give loans out that people couldn't repay, provide a conflict of interests with the sales of mortgages within an increasingly ridiculous system where investment banks and depositary banks can be linked, and, like, totally bring down much of the world economy through irresponsible lending and shady practices. That'd just be crazy though, wouldn't it?

I agree with you on the mortgage crisis.
No-look loans in hindsight were not a good idea. But lots of blame to go around with that, most of which you mentioned.
