Let someone walk around in Philly at the dead of night with big ass headphones...instant robbery. Other than that, I love the skull candy head phones and I only use the massive one's when working with music.

Don't really dislike Drake, but it's not my style of music. He has some good songs though (doing it wrong, shots for me)

I was always under the assumption that you only get trouble in west Philly on the playground or basketball court.

And it wasn't a gradual change, either. One day, BOOM! Fucking headphones EVERYWHERE. Mostly Beats by Dr Dre or Skull Candy. Only once have I seen a pair of headphones that are not those 2 brands.

Also, how did headphones suddenly gain a huge boost in popularity? Before, barely anyone wore them unless you were/you're an audiophile or a late '90s anime character. Now, everyone has them. Hell, even I'm getting some (though it's for a piano class that can be loud as fuck, plus a possible online language class).

Not saying that this is a bad thing, just a trend that I've seen that, for some reason, showed up out of fucking nowhere.

Does anyone feel the same way? Do you find it annoying when you see people walking around with huge ass headphones in public?
I don't see the problem.

I've had three instances in the last six months where I was looking to have reasonably quiet meal (low-level ambient noise is fine), only to have someone sit next to me, put their music player of choice on the table, and listen to it loudly as they eat. In cases such as these, I tell them if they're going to be rude, at least be rude in a manner that is quieter.

What I've been wondering about, is people that where them during everyday errands (walking to class is a bit different), such as grocery shopping. Since I'm a notorious people watcher (part of what I used to study involved animal behaviors, so I'm fascinated by it now), I kind of covertly watch them when our paths crossed. Always seems to be the same. . . little to no interaction with anyone, from pleasantries (not even at the counter) to courtesies (just push their way in, instead of an "Excuse me, please."). I'm sure it is too small a subset to get any actual meaningful data, but anecdotally, it simply looks like a removal from societal conventions, as sort of an "I'm not going to bother with these people."

Now, I tend to keep my errands as brief as possible, as well, but I'm at least aware that there are other people that may or may not require some form of acknowledgement of something during that timeframe. We live in an increasingly impersonal world (from forums, such as this, to texting instead of calling). To extricate one's self from even the mundane face-to-face interactions even more is a bit odd to me, but whatever.

Depends on where you spend most of your days.

u sounds like a scumbag, annoyed by trivial bs. the big headphones are the way to go in my opinion. feels like a comfortable pillow resting on my ears. i've gone with bose since 05/06, maybe 04, i dunno, but they're fantastic. my only beef with them is the cord is about 3 times longer than it should be. i can't stand the earbuds, would rather never listen to music again than wear them. feels like the thing the doctor sticks in your ear at a physical, except they fall out. pretty lame it took dre to get people to wear headphones again. people would rather be uncomfortle just to fit the trend.
