I am quite curious on one matter

The government is acting quite tyrannical in some ways already, when will they go so far that the 'well regulated militia' will finally fight back to protect the state

I mean even those terms, its very vague. Do you hope to take on the US Army? Or just make a symbolic last stand?

In theory its a decent idea, but I keep thinking, in practice, how far does the US government need to go for this scenario to happen and how exactly do people expect to fight back? Would you define the NRA as a well regulated militia? Does said Militia exist?

I cant help but imagine a scenario where the government with the NDAA one day comes for someone, he fights back, dies (duh), and gets labelled a terrorist

Yeah I've never been able to fathom how a nation of unorganized pistol wielding civilians could take on the most powerful military in the world. We'd get destroyed in a heartbeat, but honestly I don't think we'd ever see something like Nazi Germany take place in America.

Let's be real here.

The United States military would be exponentially outnumbered seeing as there are less than 3 million service members and between 80-100 million gun owners. There are more people out there who are former military than there are in the military right now. Remember that.

Get destroyed? Powerful? Everything that the military has goes to the cheapest bidder. We're talking about a military who couldn't defeat a group of Afghani civilians with AK-47's who decided to join Al Qaeda. Logically assuming, people aren't buying weapons and ammo at record paces to turn in their firearms when asked to do so.

Even if the people couldn't defeat the US military, I think having the opportunity to defend yourself is better than just being a sitting duck.

And don't be so sure that what happened in Nazi Germany can't EVER happen in America (or anywhere else in the world). What makes America different from the rest of the world? We're all humans, after all. All you need is a power-hungry leader who has the ability to brainwash the masses. Human nature hasn't changed in only seventy or so years.

Both sides have valid arguments. I don't believe that we should get rid of all guns but yet I don't think we should have free access. It's naive to think that banning all guns would stop criminals and the like from obtaining them and it's also naive to think that everyone will be responsible with them. I support the banning of assault weapons but we can't just stop there. We need to really look more in depth on why shootings like Sandy Hook happen and focus on the root causes of stuff like that because taking guns away won't suddenly make people less crazy.

Exactly. I think we have this false idea in our heads that since we have the constitution and since we're the land of the free and all that something like the Nazis couldn't ever happen. Just look at how easy people are willing to give up freedoms just so they feel safer, what's to say that during a time of trouble like a depression, they wouldn't be willing to give up more? All it takes is the right ingredients and it could very well happen.

I was having a conversation about this with a few of my friends a couple of days ago and they used the excuse of "We're America" to justify their opinion that America could never drift into a dictatorship. It's not like Germany was a third world country when Adolf Hitler came to power. Like you said, all it takes it some adversity and a politician who comes along with great charisma, oratory skills, and promises to fix things. Because of this, people will willingly submit to this person in order to "fix things."

All the government needs to do is scare people into giving up their rights and that is what they're doing. 9/11 happened over eleven years ago, yet the government stills spies on their citizens under the guise of "keeping us safe" from our enemies. The funniest part is that our supposed "enemy" is al Qaeda, yet we're funding them in Syria. They can't be that much of an enemy if we're helping them overthrow the leader in Syria.

The stupidest people in the world are those who blindly trust their government.
