So I was perusing through the video game section of this very forum, and there was a thread entitled " Best first person shooters you've ever played?" and I thought to myself, Great! This'll be a great homage to the classics i.e. Doom, Quake etc. Oh boy how wrong I was.
Halo 2 COD: Black Ops 2
Half Life 2
Team Fortress 2
Counter Strike 1.6
Goldeneye is a nostalgic game, but it isn't really good at all by today's standards.
Get a clue kids. This is the true king of FPS and always will be.
Call of Duty is for wimps who suck at first person shooters.
But Bully why? I hear you cry, Well shut the fuck up and I'll tell you.
1. Don't want to fight? Duck for cover and let your teammates do all the work.
In Doom however there was none of that nonsense. It was either stay and fight or get your ass handed to you by a Mancubus. There were no teammates to hold your hand. It was just you vs the worst monsters that hell had to offer. If you haven't experienced the satisfaction of killing a Cyberdemon ON YOUR OWN with nothing but a pistol, you haven't lived brah.
2. Still not easy enough? How about the ability to look through your crosshairs?
In Doom there was none of that. You either learn how to shoot straight, or you prepare yourself to eat the dirt like the pansy bitch you are.
3. Sniper rifles and grenades. Too much of a pussy to fight like a man? How about you do what scared cowards do, snipe someone from a distance, or throw a grenade whilst under cover? There you go, you've earned your stripes, sergeant chickenshit. Once again, none of that in DOOM.
But Bully, what about online?
What about online? That's for wimps with no friends that resort to wearing geeky headsets because they don't have any real life friends to play with.
If you really want to be a boss, Try playing paintball.
This is the result of a typical paintball session.
I could probably count on two hands how many shooters I've played in my lifetime, but yeah, Call of Duty has been done to death, and really shouldn't be a replication for other developers. When you've got 16 guys all being 1337 xXSuper-SoljuresXx all at once, the monotony kicks in quick. How people continue to play is likely based off the arrogance of obtaining fictional bragging rights, which is even less of a motivator.
