The worst thing about that 2012 shit is that people are going to be killing themselves thinking that the world is really going to end.
Checkout this story from 2011:
False prophet and profiteer, Harold Camping, destroyed lives with his End of the World prediction. Through a series of calculations Camping concluded that the world will end exactly 7,000 years after Noah’s flood, and his followers believed they would ascend to the heavens today at 6:00pm.
Bad math, or financial gain? I’m going for the latter. While Camping’s prediction is obviously false, thousands of his followers believed it to be fact, so much so that they maxed out credit cards, emptied life savings, and told their loved ones good bye, including their children, who they were told would/could be destroyed. This 47 year old woman took it a step further, utilizing a box cutter to slice the throats and wrists of her two daughters, then cut her own throat. If not for a friend stopping by unexpectedly early, there would have been three very dead bodies awaiting morticians.
Who is accountable for this? Harold, we’re calling you out and it’s not the Heavens calling — trust me, my calculations are far better.
