I have a brother who is currently - I say currently - a fan of Manchester City. But I was looking in an old cupboard of his and I saw an old Manchester United away kit from when he was five. I thought "Shame, poor fuck doesn't know what it's like to be a true fan of a team."

likewise. My local NRL team was close to getting removed from the comp, had to merge with another side to survive as we had no money before eventually unmerging, playing shit then becoming one of the most successful teams in recent history.

Its all part of being a sports fan. You cannot properly enjoy the highs without experiencing the lows.

Utterly pathetic. I'm a Detroit Lions fan, and have been all my life. We were the laughing stock of the league for 10 straight years. We went 0-16 and I still didn't jump off the bandwagon. A lot of people I know did and now they're back on. Makes me sick. Do you realize how hard it was to watch their games? Did I used to question why I was a Lions fan? Hell yeah, but I stuck around though cause I had faith they would turn it around eventually.

You should be proud to represent your team regardless. Those are the most honorable fans. The sports world doesn't need people like you. You are not a true sports fan.

There's nothing better than your team being on a shit slump, not able to buy a win to save your life before you make a 6 hour round trip for an away day against one of the big boys, get battered for 90 minutes in the pouring rain and steal a last minute winner.

Give me the proper ups and downs of being a sports fan instead of riding a teams wagon who'll be unbeaten for 90% of their games that season. Or who has the best looking players .. Actually that's a lie, I had such a bad man crush on Mikel Arteta at one point <3
