Ah the good old Patriotic argument that inflames the tempers of people of all nations. Honestly if this is all you have to complain about, what a remarkable easy life you must live.
I see nothing wrong with being proud of your country, I see nothing wrong with being glad you live in such and such a country. Being English, I love living here, I like to learn of the history of my country, of good nature and the sordid affairs. Your country is infinitely part of your life where you like it or not, perhaps as stated it is just a piece of land, but you need that land to well...live on. I consider myself fortunate to live in England but one thing I have noticed about the English is that they can complain all day long about the state of the country, the government, the taxes but when someone from a different country pipes up, we rise to defend it. I find it quite amusing actually and I see no point in this thread. Pride is apart of human nature, people will always be proud of something and for some people, it is their country.

Although I do think Obama is a fucking prick and didn't keep to his promiss of "change" other then raising out taxes.I mean all he did when he was running was say the word change and yes we can and that got him elected. Nah its not that,You're right about me feeling like an alien in "my" country and I don't feel I like much people here even though people somewhat like me and think I'm special here.I was actually born in Kuwait and I loved it there,I'd much rather live in Kuwait than Egypt and I enjoy living in Kuwait however I'd never go so far and defend Kuwait as a country since it has its flaws just like every country.I like living in places where I can relate to people.

You do realise you can be patriotic and still be critical of your own country right? Or has that deluded you. A prime example of this is Jesse Ventura. He is patriotic of the United States for its original values centered around the Constitution and Bill of Rights and was proud to serve in the Navy for his country. However he is very critical of the United States and believes the country has lost its way. Hates the fact that his country has lied to him about incidents such as the Gulf of Tonkin and the United States policies such as the way they stop and search people in airports and their justification of using torture methods such as waterboarding.
You can be patriotic and proud of your country and still be critical of it. If you don't see that then you are clearly blind to it.
