Warren, there's a little thing called 'escalation'.

You say it will never come to you having to hit your wife, that doesn't mean it won't happen. If it does, though, what will you do if you hit her as you say, 'lovingly as you would a child' and she is defiant? If she stands up for herself, Will yo escalate from the open handed slap to something that sends a stronger message? If she were to threaten to leave, you're most likely going to have to restrain her, a 100 slap combo isn't gonna cut it.

The thing is, it wouldn't escalate. My wife is very clear on where I stand concerning these issues, and I would bet my bottom dollar that she would not be defiant were I to slap her one time with an open hand. If she were to threaten to leave, that is her choice and I would respect it. I do not believe in divorce and would never initiate it myself, but you can't control another human being's actions.
