Companies could very well get hold of designs long before their intended system's release. For example, the Nintendo 3DS is lucky that it's technology hadn't been nabbed by other developers before release. They now have the rights to that so it can't be emulated unless they say so. So in some way, it could potentially be the other way round, in your case.

But that doesn't excuse Apple's unnecessary brashness and obnoxious-as-fuck fanbase.

I have a "basic" Android I'd say, and somewhat few people have IPhones here... Since they aren't really supported in my country, I don't even know whether you can use the App store.
