Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people? Everyone uses fucking IMDB as some kind of holy grail of TV & movies entertainment. I know A LOT OF idiots whose tastes are dictated by the IMDB ratings. It's pathetic. You recommend them a TV show or a movie, and they first they ask is "How's it rated on IMDB? IT's UNDER 8??? I'm not watching that crap!", or they "IMDB" it on internet.

IMDB is ridiculously overrated, and I only use it for soundtracks searches, when I hear a good song on a movie or a TV show.

Nah it's generally a pretty good guide for stuff worth watching. I've rarely seen a low rated movie or tv show on there that I ended up liking but my cut off point tends to be sub 5.5 rather than sub 8. Nothing with a 7+ rating should be dismissed.

Never look at ratings on there or anything, I just like using it to actually look up a certain film or look up certain actors/actresses/directors etc to see what else they've done, what they are going to do etc.

I agree but it's the same with everything. See a video games rating on IGN is below 8.5 = SHIT! to most people.

This is the best way of doing it. If you enjoy a directors work in one film, go watch another of his films because you'll probably enjoy that too.

I don't place too much stock into the ratings on there at all in fact, one of my all-time favourite movies "Freddy got fingered" only got a 4.2.
