Question For John Cena Fans

A serious thread, and there's a reason I avoided teh WWE section full of morons and retards (not like this place is much better, but whatever) to put the thread here...

Anyway, the question - why do you like JOHN CENAH? I'm talking about John Cena the character, the pro wrestler, not John Cena the person. And please don't try to sell me that "But he's busting his ass off for the company, he's making kids happy, he's a nice guy, etc." crap. I'm talking about your weekly dose of what you see on your fucking TV. What in the world attracts you on John Cena?

I mean, he just screams FAKE, he's an upper mid-class white rapper who thinks he knows shit about hard knock life and ghettos. His music sucks, his promos suck, he's a boring mic worker and talker, he's not all that great wrestler either, he's tailor made for fucking KIDS and BABIES, not for grown men.

I mean, Jesus Christ, look at him. His presence is simply cringeworthy. Again, he screams FAKE. It's really sad to see all those grown men wearing his merch, it's embarassing. If you're a Cena fan, what does it tell about you? Maybe you're insecure so you're rooting for a top dog no matter what, maybe you're afraid to root for "jobbers" and "hacks", or you're a blind sheep easy to fool, or whatever...

I'm not exactly a John Cena hater, I just can't see what the fucking deal is. John Cena the character is a TOTAL MORON.

Re: Question For John Cena Fans

My opinions on Cena really fluctuate because of one particular issue he has. Aside from the obvious poor booking decisions and his character's occasional obnoxiousness, I find him to be pretty reliant on good matches based on who his opponent is. I'm not saying he needs to be carried every match, but rather, if his opponent isn't good, then he wont look good either. If you're relying on him to carry a match, don't hold your breath any time soon.

Case in point: His series with Kane earlier this year. Horrible. But if you really look at it, Kane seemed pretty terrible already. His moveset had depleted rapidly to just strikes and the occasional chokeslam. But then, look at his match with Lesnar at Extreme Rules. Awesome. Lesnar had come at him with a certain brutality and MMA style rarely seen before, making him a great opponent.

Aside from that, I do feel he's kind of lost track of what direction his character is going. How he managed to transfer from gangster territory into a dude clad in shiny merchandise that all we know just opposes heels is kind of frustrating. But nevertheless, I do enjoy watching Cena if he can really be given with some opportunity to shine, and not be lumbered with poor opponents, and also his promos which occasionally bring a smile to my face. Despite all this, I'm very sure I wouldn't come under the "Cena Fan" label.

tl;dr: Because he's fun to watch on occasion. Hugs? :3

Look, i've never been one to hate, but John Cena is Hall of Fame worthy.
The guy is pure gold, too bad he can't be what he is, because he has to appeal to the kids.

Check this out. Would he do that again, DAMN RIGHT. Can he? No.
He's just a guy with brilliant mic skills, good raps, that just can't do what he can, because he needs to be a certain character.
You are right, he is fake. Because this isn't him.

Check out what Edge said.(around 6:15)
100% true.
I don't like this John Cena. Do I hate him? No. Do i like him? No.

When he's actually taking feuds seriously, he's fine. But it's when he does his whole 'all smiles, narrate the feud for the kids, joking around' bullshit, that's when it becomes painful. His goofy, for the kids, character is ridiculous and I can't see how anyone can enjoy that.

I mean, we all enjoyed that Star Wars promo, right?

I blame the writers though. One week they have him actually take a feud seriously, and the next he's smiling away like he's on all the coke in the world and it doesn't do him any favours.

I actually enjoyed most of Cena's segments in the run up to Wrestlemania this year (even though it was all pointless, as he said shit like "I have to win this match", loses and comes out like "AND WHAT" and it's all swept underneath the booking carpet). He was in his srs character with his srs face on and it was a nice change.

"Serious", "question", and especially anything related to 'wrestling' don't really belong in rants :P.

You see, the thing is, I don't really mean his feuds and writing that much, I was talking about the core of John Cena the character, no matter what he does.

I'm pretty indifferent about Cena these days, I loved him when I was a little kayfabe-believing mark...

So I can't really say. He an O.K. wrestler-per say, a good promo cutter when he doesn't have corny material, his music (which he hasn't made in 7 years now) was actually really cool. Good rap.

He'd be really cool if he was a bit more edgy as a character, like in the WM28 build-up period... I seriously enjoyed him much more than the Rock in that period.
Still, I'd be annoyed by his booking, regardless.

The core of Cena's character is in the writing. Like I said, one week they'll write him as the serious Cena and the next they'll write him as the smiley, joking around and taking nothing seriously Cena.

John Cena, the character, is schizophrenic. How's that for a heel turn?

Talking about liking Cena and then bringing up his music gimmick that he abandoned like 6 years ago?
