Never been in a mental hospital, or a hospital for that matter (only to visit others not for any injuries I had myself). I also have never been depressed or needed therapy or anything like that.

Once, 3 days, not too fun lol, I won't go into why I was there, this was quite a few years ago now, but will share a weird story, they let us out once a day to smoke for 8 minutes, my first day there I am standing there smoking and this lady comes up to me, says why you here< before i get the chance to say she looks at me and says "I am in here cuz the fucking cops caught me fucking my dead husband, yeah I went back inside right there and talked not another soul my last 2 days there.

On topic. I've never personally been to a 'nut house' but have suffered from depression and flirted with bi-polar disorder. I wouldn't want any meds, I prefer to deal with my inner demons etc on a personal level.

OP - That seems like a young age to be commited to a mental hospital?
What is that you don't understand?

I just said that I never want to be sent to a mental institution.

No need to pretend you didn't get that.

So should I be sad because you don't understand or should I just move on and ignore you?

Sorry, didn't mean to offend.

But, this sentence is absolute nonsense and to be fair you post a hell of a lot more than most.
You mostly reply to others posts, so I only skim read the majority of it.

I'll ignore you if you ignore me?

Let me lend a hand I speak Ice_Edge, what he was saying is that Mental Hospitals used to be worse, I am going on the assumption he may be refering to shock therapy and labotomy, you have to take out at least three words from each sentence to find the meaning, lol

Nah, not yet anyway.

I think anti-depressants and other meds are thrown around far too liberally to paitents though. The best thing ive heard was "Depression occurs when pain/suffering/worry outweigh coping mechanisms/ability". Therapy is first and foremost the best way to give a long term solution, to let the person help themselves. Meds and antidepressants can really fuck people up

Upon my release my Dr prescribed me some anti-depressant, cannot remember the name, I took it for a week when I went back for my weekly visit I told the Dr thanks but no thanks I will stick to weed and she agreed so long as it did in fact help my depression, which it did
