Those are just the ones off the top of my head. A quick google search will show a ton more. Oh yeah, check how many of their songs needed revised credits to include the original artists.

I've heard of them, but don't know of any songs from them. Most of my friends are black/hispanic and most of them listen to rap and know I hate almost all of it.

Homage and ripping off are two different things. Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood and most of his riffs all sound similar to Albert King. It's called influence. Zeppelin put their own twist on it. It's not like Zeppelin were just a bunch of guys ripping off stuff, they brought their own style to the table and if you can't see it. You are just a hater.

Lawsuits say otherwise. Excuses, excuses. You can keep blinding yourself with Jimmy Page's semen, but it doesn't change that they ripped a TON of shit off. Was the music good? Sure, but when it comes to their ability to create.. well, they're a great cover band.

Lawsuits are just that...lawsuits. Anyone can claim someone ripped off something, there are only so many chords on a guitar that something is going to sound similar. It happened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Petty. Men at Work with the Down Under song. It goes on and on.

Back on topic though. The best Hip Hop album is either "It was Written" or "Me Against The World" followed closely by the Slim Shady LP.

Your logic is that if it's a rip = "homage", even, you know, when the original artists have to sue for song-writing/production credits. That totally makes sense. Really.
