Stop whining.

The forum is fine. It's been this way many years before you even thought about joining the site.

First of all, I know how the internet works, more specifically internet Forums. You have folks from all walks of life playing keyboard warrior and trying to make a name for themselves in the most perfunctory of ways. This isn't limited to Wrestling Forums, it's a rule of thumb for Forums in general.

What i've noticed from WF that is more prelevant here than anywhere else is the encouragement of thoughtless babble. I'll sometimes come across people with intelligent, well thought out posts/threads that get completely ignored and drowned out by pointless bickering over things that have been discussed incessantly. The well thought out and thought provocative ideas end up getting lost in the shuffle rather quickly.

I'm not talking about sections like "rants" where it's encouraged to be a dick, this applies mostly to topics in the regular sections that have potential to spark detailed discussion but fails to do so due to people's reluctance to participate.I'm not going to throw in any example by using specific names, as i'm not making this to perpetuate personal drama. This doesn't apply to everyone, but i've noticed alot more pointless comments/threads being created lately.

Is it due to the fact that most of the prolific posters on here ran out of original stuff to talk about? Is it because they have little meaningful to contribute? If it because short sentence/paragraph limited comments are easier to read and extensive ones are too tedious to get into?

My guess if that alot of people unable or gave up on trying to discuss Wrestling (or any other topic on this Forum) in an intelligent way, and they're just throwing out popular opinions in hope to get another green rep. Others have been on here for years, and use this Forum moreso as a place to shoot the shit with their e-buddies.

Tell me what you guys think, do you think I have a point, or am I just talking out of my ass? Could this Forum benefit from a more thoughtfully active community, or are things fine the way they are?
TL;DR, tbh...

Oh, don't use community. I hate that word. This is a forum.

heh. Fair enough.

You've probably felt a similar way at some point, otherwise you would've never made that "The cesspool known as the WWE section." thread all them years back

Personally I can't be bothered to post or even lurk in the wrestling sections anyomore for a couple of reasons: (1) Wrestling is beyond tedious as a whole (to me) right now and I have better things to do with my time. (2) There are far too many trolls, retards and butt hurt marks that combine together to make an intolerable unholy trinity. My passion for wrestling has waned far too much for me to want to deal with that triumvate of shit. The stupidity obviously doesn't just exist in the wrestling sections (some real retardedness goes down in the Anything section, for example) but it's definitely the home of the main culprits.

I'd like to think that when I did post in the wrestling sections I only posted when I felt there was something worthy to add, or even to continue an already excellent discussion. So many people on here feel like they need their opinion heard on every subject, maybe it's down to needing attention? I would go as far as saying that a good ninety percent of the posts in the wrestling sections are pointless guff that add absolutely nothing to the 'conversation'. If I had the mentality of many other posters (especially fellow 11ers and 12ers) then my post count would be well into the thousands already. Many posters on here are more interested in shoving their opinions down other people's throats than having a rational debate, most threads are just a rapid succession of unlinked word vomits rather than a continuously flowing conversation.

The only reason I stay active on these forums (before somebody asks!) is because I like to lurk in rants (the one place where retardedness is relevant and bordeline acceptable) and there is an excellent Euro 2012 thread that's currently active. The strength of next season's premier league discussion may or may not keep me around long term considering I'm going to be busy embarking on a three A level access couse next September.

I can only speak for myself when trying to come up with an explanation for your question, I'm sure there is potentially a multitude of different reasons or opinions as to why these forums are so tedious at times (reading my tl;dr posts probably doesn't help to be fair).
I peruse the WWE section occationally since there are some really good commenters worth tracking down. Much like you, i'm not completely enamored by the product myself, but it can be interesting to discuss the product, especially in it's dark days. To each their own when it comes to that.

I'm not really as bothered about it as this thread might lead one believe, I signed on knowing full well that I may have to weed out the crap to find something decent. I'm not expecting this website to fall in line with my preferences nor should it, but I was still curious to see if others felt a similar way.

Curiousity mostly, a while back I glanced through a few of the Admin and Mod's earlier threads to how they were when they started vs how they are now. Nothing personal, that's one of the reasons the thread history is there to begin with n'est-ce pas?

All non-Europeans should be banned from the Euro thread
