What really baffles me is when someone takes in a roommate and they have absolutely no idea who they are beforehand. It's one thing if it's a friend or an acquaintance but I've never understood how some people can put online ads out there for a roommate. I don't let anyone in my house except for my mother and my fiance's parents, or the odd friend of the fiance if I'm feeling daring some days. But other than that, no one comes in my house so I'd have a stroke if some stranger suddenly moved in with me.

I did that twice with mixed results. The first time was my freshman year in college and he turned out to be one of my best friends to this day. The second time was my soph year and it was so crazy awkward because we were from two completely different ends of the spectrum. I probably said about 30 words to the guy all year.

Yesterday was my first day living in my own place and it's been awesome so far. Can't really complain about never having to wear pants or listen to my roommate's irritating girlfriend talk about feminist things.
