The Sikh population where I used to live was nearly 200,000 with a majority being immigrants from India. A lot of them refused to adapt to the local customs and cultures: refusing to speak English, refusing to do business with non-Sikhs, treating women as property, etc. I respect anyone that wants to come to North America "for a better life," as they say. That being said, no matter your cultural background, you should at least make an attempt to adapt to your new home.
My main complaints after living in a neighborhood of roughly 75% Indian population: the smell of curry cooking on an almost daily basis. The smell is horendous, especially when its entire neighborhood. Going to the grocery store, you immediately notice the general lack of personal hygeine. I'm not 100% up to par on Indian culture, but is deodorant, etc a no-no?

This is the argument I have all the time.
If you are going to visit a place, that is one thing, but if you are going to LIVE somewhere, learn the ways of that country and respect it. So sick of people being here for 30 years and still acting fresh off the boat.
