It is the stupidest law of all time. I'm not saying if someone breaks in you should have the right to murder them or anything, but self defense, or at least knocking them out until the police arrive, should be legal. If you break into someone's house and try to steal their shit, why should you be protected against things like that? Mental.

You should, to be honest. It's not a case of this guy could steal my shit, more so that there's family, animals in the house. Not to mention for all I know the guy could be a fucking lunatic.

actually I don't believe even California would have something that stupid since tripping over something is not assault no matter what the case so I'm calling BS on this.
my bad hah i meant the tripping part as in they can sue you still, it has nothing to do with assault, but they told us in police foundations law that its better for you to kill the person then hurt them because they can charge you for defending yourself its quite redic

Just shoot them and claim they were attacking you so you defended yourself.

pretty sure that's only Canada, not the States, although they're far more fucked up than us. it's by far the dumbest law I've ever heard of.

Yeah, I think that if you break and enter a house, we're allowed to shoot your ass.

If someone broke into my house and tried to hurt my girl or my cats, or went anywhere near them I don't think I'd be able to control myself.

You can totally kill someone if they break into your home in most states in the US. It's totally ok and would be self defense almost always.
