See honestly I very rarely see this from him, he works well with a lot of guys of varying sizes but so do a lot of people. Truth be told with the right wrestling brain and agent structuring a match, even an average-good worker should be able to work/click with various wrestlers, its all about identifying the type of match they're going from and going from there. Then again I look for a lot more things when describing/classifying a worker as great.
Jericho is like Edge to me, not actively bad at any point in his career but someone I don't get as being continually brought up in best of all time conversations focusing on ring work and not all round talent. I'd put him far above Edge though as a talent and worker.
I get what you're saying, but I don't think he was just an average-good worker. I think he was good-great. The fact that he spent a lot of time in the territories in Canada, spent time in Mexico, Germany, Japan made him one the last real 'wrestlers' IMO. I know you watch a lot more old school stuff than me, and it could be personal bias but I have always found his ring work to be great.
He was definitely at his best when paired with somebody he knew well, like Benoit, but then again who doesn't work best with somebody they know well?
