Rant over. And for that sig I saw in the football threads that has England 5-1 Germany and says "10 YEARS. WE WILL NEVER FORGET": Thank you. I'm glad someone's got a sense of humor. Such a concept won't be re-appearing in America until, I dunno, September 12th maybe.
Haha, that was me. Gone now though as it's 12/9 here now.

How many Iraqis have been killed since you guys invaded? How many people died in the tsunamis in Thailand? Does the average American know how many lost their lives in the 2011 Japan tsunami? 15,780 deaths, 5,929 injured and 4,122 people missing. 2004 tsunami in Indonesia killed 230,000 people.
No one is remembering those losses aside from the families and friends of those taken. The fact that this was a deliberate attack makes this different but no matter how you look at it, an eye for an eye? revenge? remembering the dead? the fact is that the attention this day receives should be solely on the victims and its not. Which is the saddest thing.
This is a good post. I wonder how many civilians have been killed by American Forces as a result of 9/11, surely in the hundreds of thousands by now. Particularly in Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with it. The people chanting USA USA USA in response to Bin Laden being killed is the most cringeworthy thing i've seen all year.
americans just look for reasons to get patriotic. nick also brings up a good point. most americans don't care about anything unless it affects them or their country.

Maybe if you had taken the time to read what I wrote after this post, you wouldn't look like such a jackass. I clearly need to decrease the difficulty because level 4 is kicking you in the balls right now.

Not for a much of dicks to go around stirring up shit.
That's exactly it. Thank you.
I think I read the innocent civilian count (Iraqi's and such that we've killed since 9/11) at around 300,000. And all the numbers Rush brought up, it's just staggering. Those days when they come, exactly like he said, are memorials for those lost.
Why can't we treat 9/11 that way? The way we treat 9/11, honestly, seems disrespectful to the entire spirit of a memorial. And I think that in America, as a nation, we just can't see that because we're so drowned in our own pride.

I recall some Americans even saying that Japan deserved it because of Pearl Harbor and then go and ask for our sympathy to what happen to them 10 years ago.

I don't recall a lot of people saying that though. and any who did were regarded as pretty damn stupid. and it is indeed pretty stupid to say they deserve it for that when it happened 70 years ago.
Also I beleive most people have gotten over it. From what I have witnessed most people were not looking forward to the anniversary, but more for the start of football season. the media is mostly treating it like a big deal. I'm not saying that we don't remember the event. Most people who were alive that day seeing as it's a hard event to forget. but most of the time it's not even the biggest story on that day.
Also I think a lot of the coverage has to do with all the stuff that happened after the attacks, the wars in Afganistan and Iraq and other things.
