I see what you're saying but I don't think a jury will care. If you quit your job because of a prophet how is it the prophet's fault? Now if he FORCED you to quit, I could see that.

What I don't understand is why would people give their money to him. How idiotic is that? If the world is ending why would he need money? I don't feel sorry for these people in the slightest. And if I were on the jury in this man's trial I wouldn't vote to convict.... and in a criminal case all it would take is someone like me on the jury.

Idiots have sympathy for other idiots, most jurors will have sympathy for an idiot losing their money. Do I think this guy should go to prison for taking money from stupid people? No I don't, just like I didn't think the other should have won their cases, but the law is the law and unfortunately stealing is stealing and he'll have to be punished for it.

Nah he wont. His defense will be the money was donated... and it was. Those idiots weren't purchasing anything.

Plus every one of those idiots knew this was a prediction and a prediction only.

It would be funny if they could get him on tax evasion though. If he really believed in what he was saying there would have been no need in reporting this on his taxes. But I bet he did.

The money was donated because, for lack of a better term, these people saw a Stronger Tomorrow. He told them their money was going towards a Stronger Tomorrow for themselves, he was really a cult leader of sorts, though nowhere near Charles Manson standards.

The only way for this guy to save face would be if he went on TV and stated he was donating all the money to a Christian Church group or something and admit he was wrong. But people hate admitting they were wrong.

If this guy can be proved to be a fraud then yes, the fucker deserves to go to jail...and WILL go to jail. Fraud is against the law. I don't know how you can say someone is a fraud when they use lies to tell lies. Plus donations are harder to pin down aren't they. I suppose from the strictest perspective, he acted like a soothsayer and his prediction didn't come true. Therefore he's a fraud.

The difference between him and other nuts like Jim Baker and Robert Tilton is that their actions rather than their words brought them down. Saying the world is going to end and it not ending while getting money for this is different than what happened to Tilton. Tilton was just total scum.

Like I said, I think this guy is long gone. I think he is going to wait a few months to make another prediction and his followers will be all over it again.
