It was proposed in another thread that black slaves from Afrika "built the USA".
Yes, the person who proposed this is black.
I find this fairly ludicrous. Slaves were nearly completely uneducated, could not read or write, and were pretty much looked upon as farm animals. They had no technical skills, and did not do much besides farm work, house keeping and low skill menial tasks.
Here is the post
I find this notion that blacks did all the work, while evil whitely just sat around cracking the whip, insulting to my forefathers.
From the ground up, European settlers turned an undeveloped, vast land into a thriving industrial nation, and an international power.
They were renowned for their work ethic, and technical innovations.
In the days before mechanized farming impliemnts, sure slaves were a factor, and contributed towards the prosperity of the nation.
But to say "they built the USA" is clearly ludicrous, and I challenge mrgagentleman or anyone else to back that harebrained and insulting notion up with facts.
Though this is in rants, it is not my intent to start a racial flamefest.
Please keep your comments civil & factual, thanks.
