To summarize:
mrgagentleman claimed that "Africans built the USA"
To which I replied "Afrikans did not "build this country", pleeease. They mostly picked cotton, tended to housecleaning, and other menial labor tasks that took almost 0 technical skills."
To which he replied:
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah, this literally made me spit out my drink.
The fact that you honestly believe in your heart that that was all the Africans who were brought to this country did tells me all I need to know about you."
So he makes an absurd contention that black slaves built the USA, and doesn't even go through the motions of providing a basis for that statement.
Like most blacks, used to being coddled and indulged, he figures that if he says it, then by god, it must be accepted as the truth !
Such a juvenile mindset does not carry any weight in the real world - You make a contention, then back it up, or shut the fuck up, one of the two.
So far, all we have seen in this thread, as expected, is off topic antics by the usual suspects, looking to bury a topic which they don't want to touch in bullshit.
Not going to indulge that either, and will instantly ignore anyone whos sole motivation is flame bait - And I'll start with forum assclown scrilla - A fine example, if there ever was one, that a high post count in a forum means absolutely jack shit as far as quality goes. PLONK, mr/mrs scrilla, don't have the time of day to indulge your passion for bickering.
Now, back to the topic.
"Slaves built the USA", mrgagentleman says.
"No they didn't, they did farm work and menial labor", replied Xray.
Here is a little passage from wikipedia, verifying what I and most others already knew.
Quote:
|
Slavery spread to the areas where there was good-quality soil for large plantations of high-value cash crops, such as tobacco, cotton, sugar, and coffee. By the early decades of the 19th century, the majority of slaveholders and slaves were in the southern United States, where most slaves were engaged in a work-gang system of agriculture on large plantations, especially devoted to cotton and sugar cane. Such large groups of slaves were thought to work more efficiently if directed by a managerial class called overseers, usually white men.

Picking cash crops - Just what I thought.
There is no question that slaves benefited the economy of the south - The entire rational for bringing them over in the first place was exactly that, so that should come as no surprise, and is beyond dispute.
But to issue a blanket statement like "Blacks built the USA' is so ludicrous that I am surprised anyone had the gall to make such an asinine statement - And I'm requesting that mrgagentleman, for once in his life at least, man up and admit he was wrong.
Blacks did not build the USA.
The contributed to its GNP by picking crops at a discount rate, and thats about the size of it.
99.9% of anything that took the slightest degree of technical skill, was done by the founders and builders of this nation, European settlers and their descendants.
