Funny that this got brought up, a friend of mine went to Australia a few years ago to study abroad and a couple of his Aussie friends came and lived with him this past new years. I asked them what they thought of Los Angeles and America in general, I then asked them why cricket is so popular and they didn't know why either. They referred to it as trash and that it was just as stupid as curling. I didn't even know that they had a tea time until they told me the rules of the game.

Seats are alright

Lots of people attend, for example the recent game at the MCG had attendance figures of
Day 1 - 84,345
Day 2 - 67,149
Day 3 - 68,773
Day 4 - 19,889

its way down on day 4 as the game was pretty much over by that point.

Not hard at all to stay interested.

Do you feel sort of ripped off when you go to a game and sit there for hours and nothing is resolved?
Yes.

Yes, though that's part of the fun because you can just talk shit or play with the beach balls in the crowd while the security tries to take it away + there's the Mexican wave which is usually pretty amusing and fights or people getting kicked out.

Yes to the international ones and state Twenty20 games.

No because it's good fun anyway.

So the atmosphere is more like going to a music festival than a sporting event?

It's probably a mixture of the two.

Sport as a whole I think is just a culture thing. When it comes down to it, there's not a single sport on earth that makes sense. As I'm not American, I'll never understand Baseball and what makes it a good spectator sport. In cricket, Australia and England battle eachother to win an urn full of Ashes that is a burnt cricket bail from 1882, and that's apparently perfectly normal to everyone. I'm sure there's stuff in Baseball that makes no sense either.

I can think of quite a few reasons. Baseball has been losing popularity for years now (since before I was born). It's not as popular as NFL or NBA.
