Re: Cigarettes

I mean cigarettes are bad and i won't smoke them, but they did raise the taxes a bit much on the cigarettes. I mean cigarettes are deadly if you smoke enough, but marijuana is illegal and can't give you cancer like cigs can. Now I understand why it takes so long to stop smoking. The nicotine is out of your system in 3-4 days but it is stuck in your head. But I've also heard that past the first week quitting smoking isn't too too bad but i wouldnt know.

Re: Cigarettes

Smoker here as well. One and a half years, but ive never been particularly heavy. I think i could give up, but i have no real idea.

I have one rather telling story for my fellow smokers on the addictiveness of nicotine. I have a distant uncle who used to be a heroin addict for 20 years (he was a heavy smoker during that time as well). Four years ago he managed to cut heroin completely, and also stopped smoking. Four years on, and every time i see him he is ALWAYS chewing fucking nicotine gum. Like every second of the day. Heroin however has left his phsyce completely.

Thats pretty scary when you think about it.

Re: Cigarettes

Since a majority of being addicted is simply a mindset, I've never felt enclined to smoke regularly. Sure, when I go out and people have joints or fags, I'll have one, and usually end up coughing like a pussy. It's a silly thing to do.

Drink more, smoke less. Sorted.

Re: Cigarettes

For the people who seem to be so powerless see your local doctor and get help if you really want to quit. I didn't bother with any fad patches or anything I went straight to my GP and he gave me a prescription for two courses of these tablets that you take twice a day. I didn't even have to finish the first course and I haven't touched a cigarette since or even thought about it.

It was vastly cheaper than patches too. I think it was like $15 for one course?

Re: Cigarettes

don't smoke butts...i did for a few months but really only after i drank which i don't do anymore either. the opiate high is where it's at. cigarettes? it's legal but it's a lot more dangerous then stuff that isn't. too much of those will give u cancer and make breathing a chore, pills are the unsung hero.

Re: Cigarettes

I smoked a lot from around ages 16 1/2-17, and then pretty much quit cold turkey, went from roughly half a pack a day to nothing, and I didn't have any problem. Then again, I became a pretty big cokehead at that time also, so maybe it doesn't mean as much. Still though, even before that, I was smoking a lot of the time as something to do, and the times where I "craved" a cigarette was maybe 10% of the time. I've probably smoked 2 or 3 cigarettes in the last year, not a fan of them.

Replacing one addiction with another is the simplest way to go.

I was forced to buy a pack of menthol ciggerrettes last week due to circumstance, and if there is one type which could put you off, they are it. Most god-awful tasting thing in existence. Ive cut down more since i bought them than i have for the last year. Just EW.
