To be fair, the thread starter does make a valid point, and I agree with Carl as well, but at the same time it's about making good, quality threads that would lead to better discussion. That's how threads that logically should be in a discussion thread aren't closed. Gotta pick your topics, and make your threads wisely.

The only thing I don't like about stickies is when they crowd up a section. It happens in the TNA section all the time. At one point there was 7. For "one" section that's a bit much. It's fine in sports because that's how that section is shaped.

I'd say the Sports ones work totally fine, plus the fact it's been like that for so long now it's just how it is. The wrestling ones you could question slightly, due to how much more active they are, but they seem to do the job to a certain degree.

The problem is you have a fucking 30 page official threads and no one updates the OP with all the latest info so you have to sift through the bullshit.

The thread starter is right. Making 'pinned' threads limits discussion and also forces subjects to become jumbled. It is far easier to look at a thread title and see what it is about rather than view 200+ posts in a thread that, in all likelihood, doesn't even interest your post.

I was always against even the official Raw/SD! threads, but Raw was okay because it was live and therefore discussions took place instanteously.

I have been here a good few years and was a inactive poster who posted here and there and the main reason I never posted full time was due to the tightness of the pinned/merged threads.

I don’t see the issue of just having 3 pinned topics For Example TNA:

Official TNA Impact Thread:
( This would be active for 4 weeks till the ppv and then a new one is started making sure the thread is clean after 4 weeks. It would have talk about the show and small feedback and a card for each show)

TNA DVD Thread
( Well this can just stay as it is)

TNA PPV Thread
( This has small talk about the show, Live talk as show goes on and Results)

Then if there is a huge story or signing then you have a official thread pinned.

However when you can see that someone has raised a good question about the weekly show or the pinned topic leave it as long as there are not 100 of the same ones.

Really TNA is a nice area but needs to be really looked at as people don’t make long posts as half the time they get moved.
