Well, sometimes the police are taking GTA far too serious.

We're prob the only ones who get it, great in-joke.

Funny Clubbing Story. When me and mates first started going (illegally) we believed best way to get women was to go up to them whilst dancing and ask.

Never worked and embarressing to recall

I got it. It's just been 10 years since it was funny. But then again, it's only not funny to me because the rave scene in Dallas has gone to complete shit. There's like 1 big party every year called "Meltdown", and only select clubs play that kind of music once or twice a week now. Yeah, some stupid kid in Austin ruined it for us. Now practically every medium-size venue in Texas refuses to cater "electronic music parties". Some people must think they actually are PacMan and they can just pop those "things" like M&M's.

I wonder why no one ever blamed Mario for violence. I mean, look at this prick... he runs around smashing public property looking for loose coins, he eats mushrooms to get a competetive edge, and the fucker hangs around dragon dungeons looking for true love. Are you kidding me? This guy sounds like a fucking nut!

I gave a speech on how video games are not a cause of violence about a month ago so I know a good bit about it. I see why some people could say that games do cause violence but I find it just stupid personally. I believe that more often than no it's the parent's fault or there is just some kind of mental problem with the person. Here's a quote I used in my speech from one of the articles I read.

“The flaw in reasoning against that video games increase violence is the fact that no one has ever been able to prove through independent research that video games are harmful to children or to show that they cause violence.”

Games aren't to blame.

I know the shops are doing their bit, but most parents are oblivious to how lifelike and violent some games are now.

All it takes is for little Johnny Smith to ask his mother to pick up Manhunt 2 for him while hes at school, and most parents would do it without thinking.

Lack of education and endorsement on what these games actually contain is the main fault, and is why im stuck playing with pre-teen adolescents all the time on GTA 4 multiplayer.

Bah, I hate fools who try to ruin fun stuff. I am a peaceful guy, yet I love games, cartoons and movies with a lot of gore. Its just so satisfying.

Recently, some people have been protesting over cartoons as well. Dragonball Z, to be specific. I love Dragonball Z, so these nutters can take a hike.

Some of them even protest about Tom & Jerry!!

I think it is a failure on the part of parents and their lack of censorship over what their children get into.

It is a proven fact that those that are faced with enough atrocities, they get desensitized to the serious nature of the events. That is why those that are victims of child abuse have a higher LIKELIHOOD of becoming abusers themselves.

Children and even young teens are still in the formative stages and haven't fully developed physically and mentally. For parents to turn off and allow their children to watch movies, play video games, and surf sites with excessive violence, sex, drugs, etc is abuse by ignorance.

TO ALL PARENTS OUT THERE... Be a meaningful part of your children's everyday lives. Make a point to know what your child is doing with or without you. It's not enough to just provide food, clothing, shelter, and entertainment... it takes so much very more to be a responsible parent.

Games must take a part of responsibility for glorifying it, selling on the shelf and advertising in the first place. But hey, it's business. So, still a very, very small part of responsibility.

It's based almost solely on the parents no matter how much it is dressed up. I, personally grew up in a particularly open atmosphere with 18+ rated games, movies etc becoming a casual thing. Though my parents always analyzed how I reacted among those things and often spoke deeply to me about it. Depending on how they thought it was effecting me they altered my access to certain things and talked further.

As KingAngry says, you need to be a meaningful part also, rather than only providing for them. By no means am I, or they, in any sort of position to write a book, but if you as a parent do not even care how your child will react to certain material and completely close access to it all, then you have bridges to build and ignorance to deploy. If you don't let them near the fire, they won't know it's hot!
