Yes, fans are free to criticize and discuss what they don't like about wrestling or WWE to a certain extent. When they cross the line to being a backseat driver they give up their right because it constitutes as being ridiculous and highly wrong. Why? Because, in reality NO ONE fan has a right to be over analytical over a wrestlers talent, a match, or anything like that because NON OF THE FANS have actually wrestled, thats where the backseat driver comment came in.
Be The Booker isn't being a backseat driver, its giving logical thoughts into what would be an intresting show in the fans eyes. Basically an alternative view of wrestling. Being a backseat driver in this situation is basically taking what WWE is doing now and telling them what they should or shouldn't do.
The "IWC" issue is wholly seperate, it's not a term used to refer to idiots spouting off online anymore, it's simply another way of saying "anyone who disagrees with me". Someone can post a detailed well-reasoned explaination of why (as a typical example) they feel Cena's title reign has hurt both the company and the integrity of the title, only to be dismissed by the aformentioned obnoxious jackass types as "just another IWC type", derailing the whole thread into yet another "huh huh huh teh IWC suxx0rz" bashfest.
Alot of people do use the "IWC" term in the wrong way or context. I am not denying that. What I am saying is that IWC is split into two parts, good and bad. The good side are people who post good quality well-reasoned thoughts about wrestling whether it be positive or negative. However, quite sadly, the bad part of the IWC often over shadows the good part and thats why the "IWC" term used in wrong way or context happens, this is by no means is a justification to defend the people who use it in the wrong context, but its just how it is.
It reverts into the "one person does something wrong, that persons actions reflect the others", its sad and wrong, but thats how it goes.
Accusations of not being "true fans" get slung around constantly on this forum usually by people who position themselves as "anti-IWC". Frankly, i'm sick of the arrogance and i'm sick of these people destroying every thread on the board. There are too many damn fine posters on this board for a few idiots leading a handful of sheep to keep destroying the content.
I agree, I am too sick and tired of how that is tossed around. However, the same can be said for the bad side of the IWC, sick of the relentless ANTI-WWE or ANTI-Sports Entertainment extremist or just posters who want to be out straight assholes.
I think the best way to counter it, is for the amount of good quality posters to lead by example and encourage our way of posting to those type of posters and other people of the bad side of the IWC, not in a way to demand them to change or anything, but to encourage so it could be a better way and place to have good quality discussions and what not.
This board suffers (as most message boards do) from a handful of individuals only interested in inflating their post count/rep total, while talking down to the "newbies/IWC types/whatever". Interesting discussion threads frequently get derailed by these types in an effort to inflate their own ego. It's to the point where I absolutely loathe that godforsaken rep meter as it seems to be responsible for half the spam/idiocy on the board. I'd go so far as to say at least 50% of the people with large amounts of rep on the board are complete douchebags that earned it "trading" with people or posting nonsense threads in an effort to farm rep.
No argument from me.
Anyways, this wasn't meant to turn into a "bash WEforums" spiel, cause this is by far the best damn wrestling forum on the net. Like when WWE content suffers because of a few bad performers/storylines, this forum suffers when a few people give into temptation and tear off into their five billionth anti-IWC rant. Please, if anyone who actually does this is reading my post, if you're tempted to post yet another "IWC sucks" rant in a thread for the love of all that is holy STOP. Close the webbrowser and walk away. If the thread is as useless as you think it is, it'll sink off the front page pretty quick. If it doesn't you're just derailing a thread people are enjoying.
I can see your point and I know you aren't meaning it as a bash on the forum.
I just think that people should clarify the two groups of IWC rather than generalizing the whole IWC like you are saying. Thats what I do. I always show my dislike or distain for the bad side of the IWC when that side goes overboard.
I just normally call the bad side the "Smarky Smark Smarkish Side" because thats how most of them come off. The good side just suffers because of the overwhelming at times bad side.
