Slam, typos are one thing; completely (and intentionally) misspelling words constantly is another. Look, it's one thing to occasionally do something, it's another to never stop. For instance I notice you use "cuz" occasionally. Nothing wrong with that since you CAN and DO type properly (bar some misspellings and punctuations) most of the time. Not like you're typing like:

cuz i like ur baner n avater can u make me 1

As you're aware, I'm sure, people actually type this way.

I know one thing about kids these days from the age range of 13 - 16. Most of the kids I know find it popular to type crap like:
Quote:
whuz you doin that? u better not steal my cheezzzz kake, yo mommma
I think it is the most horrible thing I have ever seen. I make typos all the time, especially on WEForums, but I commonly edit my post. I don't do it unintentionally, but I just type fast.

If any of my friends started talking/typing like that, I swear I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to hit them in the back of the head. That is just plain stupid.

That's my main problem as well. I edit all the mistakes I see, but it seems like a waste of time to load up a page just for a few typos, but I always do it. Damn my perfectionist nature, although I probably miss heaps of mistakes...

That makes a lot of sense.

Wouldn't it just be wiser to read your post before you submit? I almost never read my posts, therefore any typos or misspellings (doesn't happen often...misspellings, that is) are often left alone. I will occasionally read my post after submitting, but it's rare. I really don't care if I have a few mistakes here and there -- what do I have to gain? I already run this dump. j/k love weforums

^^

Yeah, I agree. Simple mistakes like 'I' to 'i' and 'you' to 'u' are common when Im typing.

I think that there should be a virus on this forums that infects only the keyboard, disabling it for a period of time. This would detect every time somebody replaces the word 'u' with 'you', 'wat' with 'what' etc.
That is a great post Well done. However one thing to say

You mean 'these forums'.

-----------------------

Now, ask pretty much anyone of the long serving members here about my typing history and they will surely back up the following statement.

My typing sucked, now it may still suck, but it has been drastically improved. After constant flaming and arguments with members and staff here i have improved my typing and i now take more care in my posts.

I usually open MS WORD when i post in WEForums, well nearly always now.

I never actually type my "i's" in capitals but after a spell and grammar check its fixed.

Now that there is a threat of banning or warnings for bad typing or just pure laziness, i think that people will take more care, hopefully, and post better than before.

It doesn’t really take any more time to check your post either yourself or with a computer program so its no real argument to complain about having to type properly.

I used to complain about the fact i was told to type better and i used to say its because it takes more time and it is only a Website Discussion Forums, now looking back in hindsight i see that people do need to type correctly and it doesn’t take any extra time to check so its no problem to do so.

-----------------------

Now it is understandable typo's do still happen and i am sure that a little bit of leniency is given depending on who makes the error and how their previous posts look in the way of punctuation and spelling.

Is that right Nitemare?

yo homy i kan rlly dig tht psot.

I actually missed that, I knew that somebody would pick up some small error in that post. It is kind of ironic to misspell or use incorrect grammar in a "grammar and punctuation" thread.

For the title, perhaps you should have put "Have grammar, punctuation, and spelling been cut from the school's curriculum since I went?"

I think putting curriculum in there wouldn't make a difference, as it is already implied. Useless extra word in my opinion.

Re: Have grammar, punctuation, and spelling been cut from schools since I went?

I think Text messaging and general laziness are the main contributors to bad spelling. That's how I've always thought it. It does generally irritate me when people do it, only a friend of mine I don't mind her doing it because she's dyslexic. It was once pointed out to me that if you misspell a word but get the first and last letters you'll still know what the person is trying to say.
