That's what drew my focus first. After a couple of re-reads, I presumed it was an allusion to the effect the lump in his throat was causing.

At least, I hope so.

Is this an actual lump in your throat, or a metaphor?

It's an acctual lump. I didn't notice it until a couple weeks ago. But I've been getting chest pains lately too...so the signs are there. But hey, if it is, I've got people like Lance Armstrong to keep me motivated. The guy came back from terminal cancer in the brain/lungs/and nuts...and he won what, 5 Tour De Frances in a row? So even in bleak times, there's always hope.

But I'm glad you guys found the things I put up worthy of your time. I didn't write it for sympathy or anything like that. Just figured it'd give a little perspective into the minor things we miss as the world quickly orbits along. Sometimes we think we're alone with the shit we go through. But we're not. Many of you on here had shitty upbringings. Brothers, or even parents, who may have striked you or assaulted your minds. Just as I've lost loved ones, many of you probably have to.

The main thing I was trying to convey is we should always follow our hearts in the choices we make. The things I listed are the points in my life where I didn't. And the repercussions that took place because of it. Many of you guys on here are in your mid-late teens. A lot of the choices I've been faced with you're gonna be, or are already dealing with. So I figured you could use this information to help ya's (in a way) with what you're dealt. It's easy to cart your blame off to other sources. But what I've come to know, you really can't. It's too early for me to say if that notion came too late for me. Seeing how I don't really know if my scare is true or just speculation. I do aim to find out though. But as I find it out, I'll fill ya's in.

But it means alot to me to see how this was taken. In a strange fucked up way, it makes it seem kinda worth it.

A couple of weeks ago? Have you learnt nothing from your own reflections on the past? Procrastination is your worst trait Slam. Go to a doctor ASAP.

A lump in your throat is one of the many physical symptoms of depression. Please lay off the pot and go to a doctor.

Ya know what's funny....I acctualy haven't smoked in weeks. Lack of funds, ya know?

The reason I haven't gone to the docs yet though is I'm one of many American's without health insurance. And again, with no money....I'm kinda within a rock and a hard place. But they won't know if my name's Eric Shun or my real one...so there's ways to get around it. There's always the free clinic too. But I've been lookin around at my options, so soon enough I'll figure out what course of action will be the best.

As someone with national health insurance to keep the whole country safe, I find your situation absolutely disgusting. I can't even imagine how the veterans must feel.

No shit. That's what I truly hate about here. We fight to "protect" everyone, yet we do nothing to protect ourselves or the people who have fought to protect us. Do you know how many lives have been needlessly lost because of cutbacks and the want for privatized healthcare? They know that mentioning the words "higher taxes" will stifle it from happening. You mention money, and thanks to the corporate greed of American business, and the mass American public, the voices go silent and the pockets shut.

Money helps....I won't deny that. But what good is the money when there's no one left to spend it? In time, thanks to people's want to "have, have, have"...they're gonna lose it all. Or atleast the things they've taken for granted. So what if free, or atleast public, healthcare will cost more? Isn't it there to save and better lives? Didn't know you could put a price tag on life? But in a way, that's what they doing.

We put our taxes into things like making sure criminals are able to surf the net, and watch TV. When the money would be better spent on making sure the homeless had a place to shelter themselves from sub zero temperatures in the middle of the winter. Seriously, look at that. We'll give people who slit another man's throat three squares a day, a "comfortable" bed to sleep on, exercise equipments...and so on. But we'll let people, who's only wrong to society was they couldn't hack it on their own. And force them to stay in their own squaller, when we could get them back on their feet so they could start giving back and finding hope.

Pretty sad if ya ask me. If I could change one thing, I'd change our nations priorities. Cuz they're in need of sprucing up.

In a way, it's kinda like my past situations. I spent my time trying to appease everyone around me and not be selfish. But there comes a time when ya have to. No time like the present, right?

What state are you in Slam? I know in California it's illegal to turn away somebody at a hospital without health insurance.
