An underdog babyface teams up with a masked monster who is having identity issues, resulting in an extended comedy angle between the two. All the while, a babyface turns heel and becomes the world champion when the heel authority figure interferes and backs him as the authority's personal world champion. Eventually, the monster breaks up with the bearded underdog and starts working as a lackey for the top heel champion in the company. The heel champion then retains his title at a PPV main event in a cage structure due to the interference of this monster turned lackey in a bullshit finish.

A month later, the underdog babyface gets brutally beaten down and convinces an authority figure to place him into title picture (even though the authority figure doesn't believe he fits the mold of a main event wrestler) in the span of two weeks. However, the underdog babyface must first wrestle a match at the beginning of the show to earn his right to challenge for the title (if he loses, someone else will get his title shot). He ends up working through an injury and wrestling two matches in the same night, and after months of screwjob finishes, the bearded underdog finally wins the title from the authority's undeserving heel champion.

The following show, the crowd chants 'you deserve it' at the underdog babyface as he opens the show with a heartfelt promo (that gets interrupted by the heel authority figure in the company). Soon after, instead of defending the world title against the heel he won it off of, the underdog babyface has his first legitimate title defense in a gimmick match against his former friend, the monster turned lackey (who is failing in his position as a lackey, and angering his boss in the process).

Did I just describe the Abyss/Magnus/Dixie/Eric Young storyline or the Kane/Orton/HHH/Daniel Bryan storyline? Go back, read it carefully. You still don't know? I'll give you a hint: It's a trick question. Still can't figure it out?

I was describing both of them. Both storylines have all of this in common, and I didn't even mention their beards once. You sound like a real dumbass for insinuating that the only similarity is the beard.

The whole Eric Young thing is a debacle, it's one of those things where you really have to be a die hard fan of TNA, if you justify that, you could justify anything lol. They gave Chris Sabin the belt and the guy is no longer in the company lol, Magnus pretty much never won an actual match clean, not even a single time. He never looked like the champ, and Eric Young has been in a comedy role forever.... he was the female tag team champ lol. Does the guy have a finishing move?

I'm a TNA fan and I want them to do well, but they will only get smaller as long as they keep doing this stuff lol.

Here's a description of the clusterfuck that was Thursday Night Impact

Quote:
He gets the chance to challenge for the title. He wants his title match the same night. Magnus laughs it off EXACTLY like when Triple H laughed off Daniel's challenge to him after the Chamber PPV. He has an injured shoulder, which is quite honestly, the worst part about the entire thing. He goes into the match with an injured arm. Throughout the show, Tenay and Taz talk abut the risk Young is taking, and asking "can you imagine what would happen if Eric Young was the champion", or something along those lines. The match happens. The odds against him. Then he overcomes the odds and wins the TNA Championship.

Really, the only 2 things there that was really original is that they were too dumb to do it on PPV, too dumb to actually give him a fucking push to the title, and they cut out almost immediately after he won, which is, of course, stupid.

Actually it's the Daniel Bryan marks who keep going on about the beard. I was just calling them out as the retards they are because of it.

Anyway, Barry Horowitz seems like a complete melt. Seems to really hate sex, wonder if he's a bad sexual experience or its just because he cant get any that he's mad about it?

The Sabin-stuff, i've asked maybe twice but i've yet to see a real source of him leaving. It haven't seen it has been confirmed but already the paint is on the wall and all the death of TNA yadayadayadayadyadayadya continues without someone actually do some source-critique.

I don't like EY as champion aswell but seriously, comparing this to the Daniel Bryan-storyline is really grasping for straws to see similarities to confirm a (not your Rick_James, you're cool) biased view on TNA and their relation to WWE.

Having watched wrestling for one year i think i've somewhat an unattached relation to companies, wrestlers etc and i just don't see the similarities unless you're really, really looking for the similarities, like the height-size, like him having to overcome the odds, like the beard, like their is a GM, like their is a coward heel. I'm sure those elements has occured before. The story is not the same, it's simple and doesn't make me a fool for claiming this.

Fuck, sometimes reading the TNA-section and all the negative shit going on there, it begin to wonder if it's really me that is insane?

You actually did but that's besides the point

Anyways, while both storylines have plenty in common, I only feel as though the Young win might've a response to WWE but that's about it.

I know what you mean, there's always someone shit talking on TNA even though the show does have some good content a lot of the time. I personally just felt that the whole angle could've been done way better. I know WWE is just much larger, has more viewers, has a larger roster, but these aren't TNA's real problems even, they are doing too many things like hot shotting titles and building up wrestlers that just end up disappearing after a month or 2... problems that can easily be fixed.

I think some of the comparisons are silly, like Austin Aries to CM Punk, and to be honest my biggest gripe isn't with the similarities, it's just with how the angle played out. I could probably write like 20 paragraphs on what they did wrong with EY winning, and it's not so much just EY winning, but everything else they did.
