Re: Rob Black SHOOTS On XPW....Is He For Real?
The reason I feel XPW lasted as long as it did was timing. It got established right at the tail end of ECW and was a juiced up version of that, using the same talent and incorporating relative unknown talent like ECW was known for.
The reason it didn't work was because they wanted to be the ECW replacement too bad, especially by the time they came to the east coast, which was full of ECW like promotions. The type of matches XPW was known for wouldn't work in PA and an incident even resulted in a hardcore ban and all promotions getting temporarily kicked out of Viking Hall.
Another reason they didn't work was their business tactics. Offering guys money to no show east coast companies. Putting too much emphasis on their particular style that was limited in PA in the first place. And of course, the shit with Messiah (seriously, how can you put a hit out on a man for sleeping with your porn star wife?).
And the reason it wouldn't work today is because I feel that fad has passed. Look at all the companies that were born from the ECW style. CZW, IWA-MS, 3PW, MLW, UXW, JAPW and PWU, for starters. Only 1 of those companies are still operating and aren't too much of a duplicate of ECW anymore. They weren't big on bringing in ECW talent every month and mainly focused on their own talent. A nostalgia show is okay every now & then but when it gets overdone, it'll get the Extreme Rising treatment, which is what will happen with XPW.
And I don't know who would be stupid enough to work for a promotion that Rob Black has any involvement in. He's just as bad as Ian Rotten (to an extent) and I doubt anybody would be willing to give him a chance.
And OP, why do you constantly make threads but never offer any discussion to them, aside from a Youtube link and repeating what other posters have said?
