It would be cool, but I don't see any promotion ever doing it without some backers with a whole lot of money. Flying someone back and forth monthly is incredibly expensive. And also take into account the long plane rides could very well take a toll on the wrestlers body, affecting his performance in whatever indy promotion, as well as his home promotion. Some young guys go on excursions to the US, and that's probably the closest we'll ever see.

It really is a dollars and cents situation, at least from an outsider's perspective - it doesn't make sense (not cents!) to come over to a promotion that irregularly runs shows (once a month doesn't count as regular) and risk your health and wellbeing for what would no doubt be a small paycheck and small crowd. This is primarily for those running in the AJPW/NJPW/NOAH/BJ circles, though - for smaller Japan indies and Joshi organisations it certainly "seems" more feasible.

To answer the question - absolutely, it would be cool to see more Japanese wrestlers in the independent scene, both in the US and around the world. I'd mark out something chronic if some lower-card Japanese talent was featured on a show here in Australia. Logically, however, aside from a once- or twice-off situation, I don't really see it happening. If anyone in power is reading this, however - please, a joshi tournament in Australia would be greatly appreciated.

Lower midcard guys or not, I assume it would be rather expensive for a small time indy promotion to fly talent in from half way across the globe.

Aside from Chikara, ROH, DGUSA/Evolve, CZW and PWG, those are the biggest indy companies out there and occasionally fly overseas talent in for a big event.

I just don't see the logic in a indy promotion that struggles to draw 100, fly in a talent from Japan and expect to profit. It wouldn't get the company exposure, it would get the talent exposure, giving him the possibility to be booked by bigger indy promotions who run on a more consistent basis and have the finances to bring him back.
