Re: ROH 11th Anniversary, 3/2/13 - Chicago Ridge, IL *Spoilers from the tapings*
Just finally getting around to watching the 11th Anniversary show, I meant to do this sooner but life has totally gotten in the way of my pro wrestling as of late. Looked like a nice full crowd, they were pretty lively from the looks of it too which is always nice to see though they did kind of become complacent toward the middle of the card, but I'm glad that the event looked nice and packed with the audience. The six man match to kick off the show was okay but nothing special, the Corino/Jacobs tag-team match was "bleh" in my opinion, but I'm not a big fan of Corino and he basically puts me to sleep in the ring. The Whitmer vs Haas match was enjoyable, reminded me a bit of ECW from back in the day with the weapons and spots and whatnot. The suplex where Whtimer went through the table and over the ropes was awesome, as was the one off the top ropes, this match was pretty brutal and I popped at least 3 times which is pretty cool.
The Wolves vs Hooligans tag-team match was okay, nothing special in my eyes but then again I don't really like tag-team matches a whole lot. Michael Elgin vs Roderick Strong was pretty instense and fun, I really love these two competitors and they put on an awesome match with the 2/3 falls bout. Congrats to Elgin for picking up the win and proving he has what it takes to compete for bigger ans better things here in ROH! Cole vs Taven for the ROH Television Championship was a good match, it could have been a bit better and I was surprised to see Taven win the belt over Cole, who seems to be well loved and in the midst of an awesome TV Title run. All in all I did really enjoy the Taven/Cole title bout. I was also surprised at the Kyle/Fish win over the Briscoes, but I guess it was a hard earned victory and I believe the Brothers should be put into singles competition for a while instead of tag-team action.
The main event for the ROH World Championship between (c) Steen and Jay Lethal was simply amazing! So many parts where I thought Lethal was going to win but instead Steen kicked out and vice versa, this match just had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I'm glad Steen is still the World Campion, he's having a great run with the belt and is bringing back more prestige to it with awesome matches like this. Great main event overall and a good 11th anniversary show with a surprise ending with new SCUM members.
