Nah.

Barely a baby, but no.

You forgot CMLL, which trumps AAA.

So do a few other independent promotions.

Feel free to elaborate.
Why not TCW they have an international deal on the horizon. Also they have good production and draws very well in other states. One thing TCW NEEDS to do is get Christian to join them once his WWE contract expires.

NJPW draw strong crowds in every large city they go to and do not have a free tourist audience. They have five or six TV deals and are becoming popular in the mainstream again. The January Tokyo Dome show is already sold out in the expensive seating areas. That show is their biggest show of the year and based off numbers from their first two ippvs, the spreading knowledge of the iPPV setup and the immense visibility of the annual Wrestle Kingdom show, they could potentially come close to rivalling lesser WWE PPV buy numbers at the 100000 buy range. They do broadcast worldwide now via iPPV. The best part - they're at the beginning of an upswing in terms of popularity so everything is only going to get bigger. They are the second biggest promotion in the world. To top it all off, they're the best promotion in the world by many measures. So yeah.
You are utterly deluded.

Again, TNA is aired internationally in over 130 countries, is known outside of its home nation, and does world tours outside the US every year.

How anybody with a brain can think TNA is not the no.2 organisation in the world is beyond me, just because it gets larger PPV buys because of the lack of WWE in Japan to compete with it does not mean it is bigger than TNA.

It is worldwide viewership and brand knowledge that matters.

Matters to who, you? There are plenty of successful businesses that aren't worldwide. Not just in the United States either. And all this talk earlier about NJPW not mattering is ridiculous.

Bottom line is, you can shill TNA all you want, they're still un-etertaining in my opinion. It doesn't matter how many TV's can tune into their product when no one will pay to see it. Better hotshot that world title to Jeff Hardy again, so maybe he'll stick around come contract time, so no one can still know (or care) that he's there! Is that really the state of the "#2." A promotion that after a decade people still don't know exists?

Fuck, their last TV show was a Kurt Angle Vs. Jeff Hardy reffed by Earl Hebner called by Taz on color match. If that's the "alternative" then it isn't much of one, since I could have seen that exact thing elsewhere a decade ago. Forty-six finishers, roll-up finish. Genius.

I'll take NJPW & having some tomato cans on the internet disagree with me. Even if NJPW isn't #2 or #3 of even #10...does it matter? It's still better than everything else & as a fan, that is what should matter to us. Have you even watched New Japan this year? They're so good. One of the best years of a promotion I have ever seen. Up there with 2005 ROH or early 90's AJPW or mid 90's ECW or whatever else anyone wants to compare it to. I think they have four of the top five matches of the year so far & I think they have the wrestler of the year so far. Plus they're drawing well, selling out shows & expanding. That's relevant to me.

Now this is just my opinion, but what is the goal of pro wrestling? To make money. The second most successful promotion would be the one that makes the second most amount of money, no? That has the second highest PAID attendance per year, no? The second most buys, I think? TNA doesn't make money! TNA wins in the amount of countries broadcasted on TV, sure, but that does not make them the second biggest promotion out there. Obviously New Japan doesn't matter outside of Japan, and other places where they're seen like Taiwan, Mongolia, China, Korea, Italy apparently, or with "other wrestling" fans around the world, but they are broadcast globally with iPPVs and in the internet age who's to say which is more important? TNA is more widespread on television internationally but New Japan is certainly the bigger promotion by every other measure, in my opinion.

And just splitting hairs but that 600 international buy number was just the measure of people watching live. No way to say how many watched with the time delay and replay buys.

AAA is naturally next. They have everything in their favorite. I hope one day luchalibreusa will give up the rights to promote AAA in the US.

This idea that TNA does international tours is a manipulative bit of language. They tour the UK. And that "tour" is usually two shows over a weekend. You know who else has a presence in the UK? NJPW.

Not that I understand why any of us give a crap about the business side of pro wrestling. I don't work for these companies. You never hear people wondering about how many markets episodes of Saturday Night Live are airing on.

PWG doesn't run enough shows.

I would hope CHIKARA or Dragon Gate USA case those are two that I follow. Although DG USA doesn't really run enough shows either.

My mistake, I was thinking of HOH.

But seriously, you're talking about a pretty much fresh, new company with recycled talent being number 3 in the country?

And if mainstream America doesn't watch ROH, what makes you think they will suddenly watch NJPW? To mainstream America, WWE is wrestling. From what I understand, NJPW is doing quite well for a company not based in America, as their style fits better with an international audience.

As for the other 3 companies, seriously, let's not say a show that fewer than a dozen people on this forum have heard of and say they could be number 3. If us internet geeks haven't heard of it, what makes you think mainstream America will take a liking to it?

There is a reason why companies like Wrestling Society X and Urban Wrestling Federation all failed. Most fans care nothing about wrestling that isn't WWE. I, for one, have no interest in watching TCW, when I have no idea what that is.

Financial backing is key. Are these companies you listed making money? Where are they based out of and how often do they hold shows? Who are their champions?

And OP, you've just listed 5 companies that could be number 3. Which is weird because you earlier said Chikara and have since replaced them with AAW. Do you even know what you're talking about or do you just like making threads with no insight until others comment so you can repeat what they say?
