How is Extreme Rising a contender? They've only held 1 show.
But, I'd put my money on Evolve/DGUSA. Right guy running the ship, who took ROH to new heights and as long as you doesn't make any sudden moves, could do it again.
Don't know much about a lot of indy promotions but while Chikara is popular, I just don't see their promotion capable of replacing ROH. Same goes for PWG.
As for NJPW, they've been around for 40 years. Should be a lot bigger than it is. Fact is, while it may be popular in America over the Internet, that doesn't necessarily mean that mainstream America will take a liking to it as easy.

Re: If ROH Goes Under What Promotion Will Be The New Number 3?
NJPW has pretty much no legs outside of Japan. It also doesn't offer much of alternative from WWE and it's not even relevant as it is based in a country where all of these promotions that we are talking about don't really have any effect. So even talking about NJPW being number 2 is nonsense as it is currently in a bubble and not in competition or relevant to the US wrestling scene.
A "world-wide standpoint" is a very silly concept and uneven concept.
3rd would have to go to either Chikara or CZW, both offer something different and have a very solid fanbase for thier current positions.

This would be the time where someone throws in the Inoki jokes.
NJPW slumped hard in the 2000s, when Inoki took over. That is why it's not bigger than it is.

Re: If ROH Goes Under What Promotion Will Be The New Number 3?
Doubt there would actually be a number three mainstream promotion if/when ROH went under. PWG doesn't want to expand, Chikara might be seen as too out there for anyone to put real money behind, CZW wouldn't due to the deathmatch nature and as much as everyone thinks it'd just be DGUSA/EVOLVE remember that DG Japan controls who comes over for the shows and EVOLVE would have to draw substantially more to be a contender.

Re: If ROH Goes Under What Promotion Will Be The New Number 3?
If the third biggest company in the states did go out of business, what would that say about the relevance of being number three? I honestly think most of the contenders folks have mentioned would rather stay around their current level than gamble everything on a major expansion that doesn't have the nationwide audience to support it.

Probably some Northern independent promotion.

You forgot CMLL, which trumps AAA.

So do a few other independent promotions.

Re: If ROH Goes Under What Promotion Will Be The New Number 3?
The hell? CMLL does not have a larger marketshare than AAA, it's not even remotely close.
I'll agree that whoever is #3 in whatever context is extremely remote, if not niche. Same goes for #2 (which theoretically mindshare wise would be TNA) they're all distant compared to WWE at the end of the day.

I hope that's just a bad trolling attempt.
NJPW's IPPV had 600 international viewers which is close to ROH's numbers with no "mainstream" hype for the show. You sound like a catholic priest from the middle ages preaching that the world is flat. "Oh if it happens outside of the US it's irrelevant". Why? Because people jack off to the western culture? The sheer idea that everything that happens outside of the US isn't even politically correct. NJPW isn't the second biggest promotion in the US. Good thing people exist outside of the US, though.....

I would say Evolve/DGUSA is pretty much going to overtake ROH as number 3 within a year.

They held three shows also this November show is gonna be their fourth. Also mainstream America doesn't watch ROH so if NJPW comes over a lot then they could be number three. So I say Extreme Rising, Traditional Championship Wrestling, AAW, or RESISTANCEPro could be number three.
