I'd like to see Gargano and Davis going at it in a Street Fight. That could be a great bigguy/smallguy dynamics, a la Danielson/Morishima. Book it Gabe!

DGUSA Fearless 2012 Review:

Johnny Gargano vs. EITA - ***1/4+

The Scene (Caleb Konley & Scott Reed) vs. Arik Cannon & Pinkie Sanchez - Skipped.

Samuray Del Sol vs. Sami Callihan - ***1/2

The Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor (c) & Orange Cassidy & Drew Gulak) vs. Rich Swann (c) & ACH & CIMA – Captain’s match - ***1/4

Jon Davis vs. Akira Tozawa - ***3/4

Open the United Gate #1 Contenders match
The Super Smash Bros (Player Uno & Player Dos) vs. Ryo Saito & Genki Horiguchi - ***1/2

Respect match
A.R. Fox vs. Ricochet - ***3/4

Here's my full review with spoilers:

Johnny Gargano vs. EITA - ***1/4+
The audio problem with songs not working during the show were awkward. The match was really good opener, it's really refrshing seeing the champ in openers and Gargaon is the pefrect man for this spot. It was the first time I've seen EITA in the ring and he looked pretty good, the Cop Killa was unnecessary but overall great way to open the show.

The Scene (Caleb Konley & Scott Reed) vs. Arik Cannon & Pinkie Sanchez - Skipped.
I started watching this and then Pinkie Sacnez came out with ANGRY FACE~!. Jesus, this was too much for me, this guy is so awful in DGUSA. Really not a fan of Larry too TBH, he's pretty bad. Why the hell Gabe thought it was a good idea to put Pinkie and Scene in the match... (I have no problem with Cannon)

Samuray Del Sol vs. Sami Callihan - ***1/2
Great match and I loved the Brainbuster.

The Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor (c) & Orange Cassidy & Drew Gulak) vs. Rich Swann (c) & ACH & CIMA – Captain’s match - ***1/4
Your typical The Gentleman's Club's trios match. Some comedy and then lots of moves towards the end, and it worked on me once again. Enjoyable match but I'm not agree with the result, it seems like Chucky-T is losing way too much.

Jon Davis vs. Akira Tozawa - ***3/4
Davis' entrance was fucking awesome. The match was just as good as Gargano/Davis, I wish the match was longer because this was fantastic. I'm a huge fan of Davis' work lately, he's really underrated for some reason and nobody's talking about him. IMO he's one of the best in indies right now and I'll not be surprised if WWE will sign him sooner than later. Really hope he'll win the belt and have a reign that similar to Shima in ROH. Tozawa was awesome as always.

The Super Smash Bros (Player Uno & Player Dos) vs. Ryo Saito & Genki Horiguchi - ***1/2
Don't have too much to say about it, it was the first time I saw Saito and Horiguchi too and they looked great. The match was everything you'd exepct honestly and without the out-of-nowhere finish I'd give it higher rating.

A.R. Fox vs. Ricochet - ***3/4
Awesome match. Wasn't close to what I exepcted from these two. They actually told a great story with AR Fox injury. Ricochet played an AMAZING heel here, awesome job from him, I enjoyed his work on the knee too. AR Fox sold his knee greatly too but I didn't liked that all of offance risked his knee and even if he sold that really good right after he hit it it still was pointless. I wish the crowd was more into the match because this kinds of much really needs the crowd support and sadly they didn't get it. The finish here felt weird and out of nowhere too but overall really good match and I can def see people giving this match higher rating than I did. Loved the post-match and Richochet's great.

Soooooo.... another great show from DGUSA, why am I not surprsied?

Uprising 2012 - November 3, 2012

1. Arik Cannon and Pinkie Sanchez vs. Jigsaw and Fire Ant - ***
2. Akira Tozawa vs. Samuray Del Sol - *** 1/4
3. Johnny Gargano vs. Jon Davis - DUD
4. Ricochet and Rich Swann vs. The Super Smash Brothers - ****
Fast forward through the ads.
5. The Gentleman's Club vs. The Scene - *** 1/4
6. El Generico vs. Sami Callihan - *** 1/4 (seriously stop with the attacking the limb matches)
7. CIMA and A.R. Fox vs. Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito - *** 3/4

1 squash, good undercard, nothing really bad, an awesome match between Rich Swann and Richochet vs. the SSB, and a great main event. Generico/Callihan was OK but I'm sick of attacking the limb matches. They bore me. Meh. I think night 2 was more consistent, but this night had 2 matches above *** 1/2. Good show overall. Gonna watch the final night soon when I get time.

Sami/Generico was GREAT. The storytelling was awesome, with Sami finally embracing FINLAY's words about focusing on 'rasslin and tearing his opponents apart with methodical offense. Focus, Sami, focus. And yeah, he was damn focused. Storytelling 101. Sami didn't go balls-to-the-walls, he was cautious. Which means Generico got fucked up, and had to work from behind, and he's the BITW in doing it. The first fall was pure psychology, and Sami winning it so quickly gave him a tremendous cofidence and faith in what he's doing. Not to mention Generico's takeresque selling. This match was brilliant. ****1/2

I'll admit that I enjoyed the hell out of Generico/Sami as well but that's the beautiful thing about pro wrestling though, there isn't one accepted style so you get lots of variety and that's something DragonGate does very well for my money.

Match-cards updated, with ACH, Jigsaw and Fire Ant thrown into the mix.

#6 ·
Lots of strong lineups. Thus far, Uprising is looking like the most standout card to me but Freedom Fight has the potential to surprise and steal the weekend. So pissed they ended up going with the NYWC building, from what I remember that building looks bush league. I'm" also a bit disappointed they won't follow up with Davis's heel turn but hopefully they do something with that during the tripleshot.

The only match I can say doesn't interest me out of THE ENTIRE WEEKEND is DUF vs. Jigsaw/Fire Ant. I like Arik Cannon and I like Pinkie but for some reason I'm not as big a fan of them together in DGUSA. It could end up really surprising me with all 4 men's CHIKARA roots.

For me Freedom Fight looks the sickest then Uprising then Fearless. That 4-way is going to be insane. Then at Uprising we get Sami vs. Generico 2/3 FALLS! They can really make that match something else. Sprinkle in fresh matchups and I think DGUSA has got a winner. Hopefully they don't bog down these cards with really shitty Scene matches.

Well the match I want to see is pretty obvious here. :mark: @ 11/3/12 Generico/Callihan goes down.

Callihan vs CIMA is meh. I don't like CIMA. I suppose Sami getting the match is a good sign within the company though. As long as he can carry CIMA to something I care about then that's what matters.

#16 ·
Nah, CIMA is cool. Sure, he's not the best wrestler in Dragon Gate, but he's the most charismatic one, I really root for him.

#18 ·
You're cra-zay, CIMA is not only highly respected as the ace of Dragon Gate, he is regarded as one of Ultimo Dragon's best students out of his famous 1st class; putting on some of the best matches in Toryumon and Dragon Gate history. He is synonymous with the brand.

#22 ·
If you don't like CIMA that's perfectly fine, no need to get defensive and go on a rant about it. It's nothing but a difference of opinion.

Damn straight, he has put together a hell of a catalog of great singles matches since he won the strap from Mochizuki last year. Not to mention, he's had some hilarious tags with Team Veteran and great matches in DGUSA.

#20 ·
Yeah because some want to regard him as the best student means I have to care? Pfft. Get over that information real quick. Even the label of calling him "synonymous with the brand" is part of why I call him overrated. He sure as hell wasn't synonymous for me when I first started watching. Dragon Kid was the guy I really gravitated to. Then the others after I saw more. Not saying he's a BAD wrestler. He's not. Do I honestly care for him? No way. I don't. I'll watch him work, but I'll still take about 99% of everyone else from Dragon's Gate over him.

Knew this would ruffle up some feathers. Can't say anything bad about CIMA or else. Cracks me up.

#23 ·
I'm not liking CIMA/Callihan because it's going to be a styles clash and I can't see them meshing at all. Yeah CIMA's not the best anymore, but at least he tries every match (looking right at you Yoshino). Besides that and the DUF matches the shows look good.
