Are their dvd sales that well off? They were my first wrestling show back in the first quarter of 2008 and tickets are really cheap in Reseda. I just wonder where the get the money to ship in all these guys from around the world.

They have to. When you're an indy wrestling company you won't have the money and ability to compete with mainstream booking and production. In order to compensate, they have to put on great matches to attract attention from the hardcore fans and get their money.

I always wanted PWG to expand to other cities but peep this.

If they run all shows out of Reseda, with the KRR shows usually taking place in a slightly larger venue, they likely do strive off DVD sales, as that eliminates costs of having to rent out other buildings, taking out insurance and other expenses that comes with booking a show. So, it would allow them to flow over big names, especially for KRR.

I'm also convinced that 1 of the PWG 6 was well off financially (Excalibur or Super Dragon) and could afford to invest the proper money needed to keep it afloat but years later, they've likely made a huge profit and may have little chance of taking a loss.

Except PWG almost went out of business in late 2008. Had it not been for Super Dragon putting in some of his own money, it wouldn't have continued. PWG manages to put on big indy cards because of a variety of reasons:

- I really don't imagine top indy guys cost too much money. If these small indies that no one has heard of can afford Kevin Steen or Roderick Strong, PWG can as well.

- One location has to help a lot. This allows PWG to always know how much money they have to spend to rent out the building. Likewise, they don't need to hire local crews to set anything up.

- Being the biggest company on the west coast probably helps a lot too. You don't need to compete with other companies to draw fans and younger wrestlers are more likely to work cheaper for PWG due to the better exposure than in the other SoCal companies.

- Few shows is another huge deal. At this point, PWG only holds 10 shows a year. Think about it, that means you only have to come up with the cash to pay an El Generico or Kevin Steen nine times a year (Assuming they miss at least one show a year). So few shows also means it's easier to legally follow PWG than the other major indies (As in actually buying the DVD's). So you're also making more money per show than you would have back in the days of running 20+ shows a year.

- Lastly Highspots has to help a lot. I assume they cover for some of the costs of creating the DVD's and you have a much larger platform to sell your DVD's. For example, I imagine every Five Dollar Wrestling event has had a Highspots table set-up. I'm sure there's several PWG DVD's for sale at each event.

At this point, I'm guessing PWG has found a nice little groove where they keep costs down and they don't need to be so worried about having to go out of business. I highly doubt they have a ton of profit though.

But if you remember for a period of time, they often used Low Ki, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley and a few others during or fresh off their TNA runs.

And I also didn't know they nearly went out of business, which ties into my original statement of either Excalibur or Super Dragon keeping the company afloat, as if I'm not mistaken, large part of the PWG 6 have stepped away from the business.

But all of those guys worked most of the usual indies. When the asking price became too high, they quickly stopped using Styles and Joe. In fact, they're the only ones that you mentioned that haven't worked a PWG show in the last couple of years. Not coincidentally, they're also the ones that rarely worked anywhere else besides TNA from 2007 on. Guys like MCMG have worked a ton of small places in the last few years.

I doubt Dragon kept the company afloat. Between their break at the end of 2008 and the start of 2009, the company made a lot of changes. They cut down the number of shows by a lot, ditched the idea of ever doing an European Vacation again and they gave up working anywhere except for the Legion Hall in Reseda (Sole exception being for Kurt Russellreunion, but I imagine WrestleReunion pays a portion of that. Lastly, they even cut down on the number of fly-ins and began using locals (LTP, Johnny Goodtime, Cutlers, Brandon Gatson, CK Jackson and Ryan Taylor all debuted soon afterward) more often.

Dragon mentioned in the recent Q&A that he invested his own money in 2008 to keep PWG alive.

I imagine that a lot of the wrestlers also have a hell of a lot of fun working these shows and they wouldn't charge as much as say working for another indy simply because it looks like the wrestlers are having so much fun out there. It's not serious, they can put on a show and they enjoy it. I may be wrong, maybe they all fucking hate it and are just doing it solely for the money, but everyone generally looks like they love performing there.
