Davey Richards interview in Power Slam #217
There's a decent interview with Davey Richards in the latest issue of Power Slam magazine. I'm not a fan of the guy at all, but he comes across well here. Some highlights:
- says the UK has a better crop of upcoming talent than the US ("that's not a knock on the US: it shows how highly I rate the UK talent.")
- talks about inadvertently winning the FutureShock title by legit knocking out Jack Gallagher with a head kick after Gallagher had stiffed him with a headbutt
- doesn't think Kevin Steen follows the ROH World title lineage of Joe, Danielson, Ki, Black, Edwards & himself
- says he would rather wrestle for 45mins at a grueling pace than do a 10 minute hardcore match ("those matches scare me.... I'm not a stunt man at all")
- thinks ROH has gotten away from the in-ring product being at the forefront of things & should go back to focusing on wrestling
- bigs up Kyle Matthews, Chip Day, Shane Hollister, Silas Young, Chase Owens, Jack Gallagher, Stixx, Noam Dar, Lionheart, Dave Mastiff & Zack Sabre
- talks about turning down this month's Noah tour & not being able to wrestle abroad for the next year due to having to finish paramedic school
- doesn't see himself working the indies anymore once his ROH contract expires in August 2013
- mentions wanting to move to England for 6-12 months & then maybe WWE or TNA or Japan
