Default Aussie pro: PWA Wrestlepalooza

The latest on PWA's 2010 debut double shot weekend.

Believe me, this is Australia's East Coast's best promotion in terms of booking, workrate and match quality. If you're a wrestling fan, there's something here for you. Book early, especially for Friday's shows. They sell out each first Friday of the month.

Yeah PWA is real good. I think part of the reason their storylines are done well is because their wrestlers have PWA-only agreements, so they don't wrestle for other promotions which could interfere with their PWA commitments.

If they're only allowed to work for PWA then they better be getting paid well.

The wrestlers aren't on any kind of exclusivity contract, however it is the norm for them to work PWA shows as a priority. A number of them work other promotions in Sydney and in other territories however strong bonds and morale mean that many wrestlers make themselves exclusive to PWA. They know that the show will be well attended, and they trust they will be given a decent opponent to work against.

*FINAL UPDATE! - 'WRESTLEPALOOZA KICKS OFF IN TWO DAYS!*

In just two days, PWA's return to action kicks off with the first night of the two day spectacular 'Wrestlepalooza', being held at the Liverpool Masonic Centre (Friday) and the Belfield RSL (Saturday). In this final update, the last matches will be announced for both nights. Amongst the previously announced debuts and returns, we have more new faces surfacing in PWA.

'Wrestlepalooza Night 1' Friday the 5th of February - Liverpool Masonic Centre, Liverpool

#1 Contender for the A1GP Championship
Singles Match
'First Mate' William Kidd vs Scotty Club
The former A1GP Champion William Kidd is scheduled in a match that if won, will grant him the opportunity at a rematch with current A1GP Champion Mat Diamond, however, his opponent is a debutant within PWA, that being Scotty Club. Club has wrestled for various other promotions in Australia, making a name for himself mainly within the state of New South Wales. Always a crowd favourite, Club looks forward to getting in front of the PWA faithful for the first time and experiencing the atmosphere that is featured at the Liverpool Masonic Centre. This is a huge match for Club at the same time, not only making his debut, but for contention into an A1GP Championship match. Both men will be pulling out everything they have, with so much on the line.

6 Man Tag Team Match
PWA Heavyweight Champion Mike Valuable & The Kelly Gang (Gene Kelly & A1GP Champion 'Mr 630' Mat Diamond) vs Ahmed Iblis & The New Impact Players (Sean O'Shea & Mikey Broderick)
This match is fallout from 2009 directly. Ahmed Iblis, former PWA Heavyweight Champion still has an issue with Mike Valuable. Coming up with what is the biggest victory in PWA to date, dethroning Iblis on PWA's last show of 2009, in a brutal Street Fight, Valuable is now at the very top. Both Iblis and Valuable shed blood in the barbaric fight that was witnessed on December 4th, and it seems Iblis cannot put the loss past him. Requesting for a rematch, the PWA Board did not grant it to him, due to his actions during his tirade on PWA and the entire roster. However, the PWA Board has decided to try and resolve to problems at once. A rivalry that has continued to heat up is the one between The Kelly Gang and The New Impact Players. It all started with O'Shea attacking Kelly after a singles contest in early 2009. The last time the two teams faced off, the NIPS bested the Kelly Gang, due to a handful of tights. The Kelly Gang still want revenge on both O'Shea and Broderick. Those who attend the Liverpool Masonic Centre this Friday will surely not forget this match up.

Singles Match
Elliot Sexton vs 'Above 'Average' Robbie Eagles
Elliot Sexton wants to make an impact on the entire state of New South Wales, saying that he will sacrifice one of PWA's elite. Scheduled in a championship bout against Mike Valuable on the second night of 'Wrestlepalooza', Sexton will be in a singles contest this Friday with fan favourite in Liverpool, Robbie Eagles. Robbie is continuing the same path he started on last year, taking on any and every challenge he can, no matter how big or small. This time, the disadvantage he faces may be the biggest yet. It may be an impossible feat for Robbie to overcome the monstrous man mountain from Adelaide. Normally this would be a one sided match for Sexton with the size difference, but Robbie has overcome some of the most impressive obstacles in his career. Sexton wants to head into the second night of 'Wrestlepalooza' with a win on his shoulders, Robbie wants to defy the odds. Who will come out on top?

PWA 'Wrestlepalooza Night 1' takes place on THIS FRIDAY! 5th of February at the Liverpool Masonic Center, Liverpool, located on the corner of Hume Highway and Memorial Avenue, Liverpool. To ensure you get the best seats available, prebook your tickets by calling 0417 700 435. Doors open at 7 PM, with ticket prices set at $10 for Adults and $5 for Kids. Check back here for results, after the conclusion of PWA's 'Wrestlepalooza Night 1'! Friday the 5th of February, only at the Liverpool Masonic Center!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Wrestlepalooza Night 2' Saturday the 6th of February - Belfield RSL, Belfield

A1GP Championship
Mat Diamond [Champion] vs 'The A-Town Phenomenon' Jonah Rock [Challenger]
Spouting from his impressive reputation, Jonah Rock is being given a title opportunity, much like his tag team partner Elliot Sexton. Rock will be going against the new A1GP Champion Mat Diamond. This will mark Diamond's first title defense since winning the belt in December, and it will definitely be against a formidable opponent. Rock's reputation comes from his manhandling of his opponents, throwing them from one side of the ring to the other. This is usually against an opponent for similar size or stature. Diamond knows he is much smaller than Rock, and is going to try and use his amazing speed and agility to successfully defend his A1GP Championship. Jonah Rock wants to take the A1GP title back with him to Adelaide, will it happen? Or will wee see the impressive streak Diamond started towards the end of 2009 continue?

Ahmed Iblis issues an open challenge
Still fuming from the results of the last PWA event, the PWA Heavyweight Championship meant the world to Ahmed Iblis. After being denied a rematch with Mike Valuable for the first night of 'Wrestlepalooza', Iblis demanded he get his rematch on the second night. However, the PWA Board told him if he was to continue with his threats, he would be suspended from PWA action once again. Iblis calmed down, just in time to tell the board members that he doesn't care who they put against him at the Belfield RSL this Saturday. An open challenge has been laid down to anyone willing to step into the ring with the former Heavyweight Champion. Also in action at the Belfield RSL this Saturday will be: Gene Kelly of the Kelly Gang, 'Aequitas' Ryan Eagles, JT Robinson & Ash Riot, Jorge Del Homos and The New Impact Players of Sean O'Shea & Mikey Broderick.

PWA 'Wrestlepalooza Night 2' takes place THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! The 6th of February at the Belfield RSL, Belfield, located on the corner of Persic Street and Bazentin Street, Belfield. To ensure you get the best seats available, prebook your tickets by calling 0417 700 435. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with ticket prices set at $10 for Adults and $8 for Kids. Results and media to posted upon the completion of PWA's 'Wrestlepalooza Night 2', this Saturday, 6th of December, only at Belfield RSL!
this is a quality card with a good mix of regulars and fresh faces.
