Default Re: CHIKARA Thread O'Fun 2009!

- CHIKARA “If The Airplane Is Snowed In, Put Your Bloody Skis On And Get Going!”
February 20, 2009 ~ Riverside Beneficial Assoc. Building, Reading, PA

Preshow Notes: As expected with Reading, the building is packed with an attendance around 160, the staff busting out extra chairs to accommodate all the young fans of CHIKARA. The infamous Reading Crock Pot Hot Dogs are still missing, a true shame. Louden Noxious is going acoustic tonight with no microphone.

1. UltraMantis Black & Crossbones [The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple] & Pinkie Sanchez vs. Cheech, Cloudy & Hydra: Hydra comes out with a snorkel and goggles, while Cloudy joins him with a fish-themed inner tube. Leonard F. Chikarason and Chuck Taylor on commentary for this battle. Some early friction between Pinkie and Ultramantis Black, Mantis demands that there is no dancing and that they need to be prepared for battle. Pinkie accidentally hits Crossbones, and the Order leaves him to die as Cheech defeats Pinkie Sanchez with the Go 2 Cheech for the win. Fun opener.

2. Grizzly Redwood vs. Create-A-Wrestler: Bryce Remsburg and Louden Noxious on commentary. CAW has brand new black and yellow themed gear. In the middle of the match, CAW brought a stack of flapjack pancakes into the ring and flapjacked Grizzly onto them. It wasn’t enough, though, as Grizzly rolled through on a sunset flip and pulled the tights for the cheap win.

3. Delirious vs Sami Callihan: Commentary by Bryce and Ultramantis Black. Sami is in an extra wild mood tonight, falling all over himself in his entrance and then threatening to take a bite out of referee “Justice” Jon Barber if he put hands near Callihan’s mouth again. Delirious and Sami exchange some disgustingly loud chops early, brutal stuff. Delirious submits Sami Callihan to the Cobra Stretch in around ten minutes, much to the dismay of Ultramantis Black. Match was described as going on a bit too long and plodding. (What? A Delirious match slow and boring? Can't be.)

4. Jigsaw, Mike Quackenbush & Tim Donst vs. Vin Gerard, STIGMA & Colin Delaney [The UnStable]: STIGMA has stolen Donst’s headgear and is taunting it with him while Vin demands to be introduces as “Mike Quackenbush’s number one student”, a slap in the face of both Quack and Jigsaw. A very fast-paced, fun trios match all around with some risky dives from Quack and Co. before the UnStable corner Donst and absolutely brutalize him. The match peaks with a ton of nearfalls and close finishes, including a double superkick on Vin Gerard and a huge dive by Quack. The UnStable prevails as STIGMA hits the Tombstone Piledriver on Tim Donst for the win in 18:47. A very, very good match.

Intermission. The microphone arrived to the biggest pop of the night!

5. Ophidian & Amasis [The Osirian Portal] vs. Lince Dorado & Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen [The Future is Now]: Bryce and Mike Quackenbush on commentary for this non-title bout. Lince bumped his head on the ceiling doing a springboard clothesline. Amasis actually took Lince’s mask off at one point, but the referee didn’t notice so he got by without disqualification. Amasis gets the win over Equinox after making him pass out in the Camel Clutch. After the match, Amasis posed with the CdP belts and the Young Lions Cup, a strong sign that Amasis may come away with all the gold tomorrow.

6. Brodie Lee vs. Frightmare: Frightmare put up quite the battle, taking loads of punishment and hitting brief flurries of offense…but it wasn’t enough as Brodie puts Frightmare away with the big boot and Liger bomb in quick fashion. Good match, albeit short. Frightmare shows a lot of promise.

7. King of Trios ~ Qualifying Match: Fire Ant, Soldier Ant & Worker Ant [The Colony] vs. Gran Akuma, Icarus & Chuck Taylor [F.I.S.T.]: Icarus’ hair is at new fantastic lengths, while Fire Ant is sporting a new top half to his gear. F.I.S.T. comes out strong on the attack, jumping the ants as soon as they come out of the curtain. Icarus aped a Randy the Ram spot at one point early on. After a ton of wacky spots and an all around great match, Icarus pulls off the upset and pins Worker Ant with a pedigree to send F.I.S.T. into King of Trios. After the match, Chuck Taylor hits Worker with an Awful Waffle on the floor…and a fourth ant in green gear came out to save him! (Damn. The Order's going to win tomorrow.)

8. Escorpion Egipcio vs. Claudio Castagnoli: Leonard F. Chikarason and Quack on commentary. Claudio has quite literally raised the roof (well, ceiling) when soliciting cheers, while Escorpion is playing wonderfully old school by demanding the crowd be quiet. Claudio manages to get the giant Escorpion up for a six-rotation giant swing. Claudio gets the win with a bicycle kick and Ricola bomb. Solid main event.

Default Re: CHIKARA Thread O'Fun 2009!

- CHIKARA “Motive, Means, Opportunity”
February 21, 2009 ~ Palmer Community Center, Easton, PA

Preshow Notes: CHIKARMY perks were out the window this evening as every fan was let in just a little early as a special treat from the students. Attendance is a bit lacking early on, somewhere around 80-90 ten minutes before belltime. Louden came out and performed his standard Easton songtimes, along with a special birthday balloon for a young seven year old in the audience. CHIKARAFans’ hero Tuck Hanson was acknowledged as putting in great months of service as Louden’s official mic stand, but was replaced by an actual mic stand while being told that he will be a “future superstar in CHIKARA rings”.

1. King of Trios ~ Qualifying Match: Eddie Kingston & Brodie Lee & Grizzly Redwood vs. UltraMantis Black & Crossbones [The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple] & Sami Callihan: Kingston came out in street clothes and the team is now officially known as “The Blue Jeans Squad”(Really?). Likewise, Sami Callihan came out wearing an old Crossbones mask to show his hopeful unity with The Order. Mantis and Kingston start off the match and do some neat little lucha spots, very out of the ordinary for both men. The Blue Jeans Squad advance to King of Trios as Kingston hits his backfist followed by a big Brodie boot on Sami for the win. The Order beat up Sami after the match and continue the search for their third partner.

2. Ophidian vs ???: Leonard F. Chikarason came out and addressed the Worker Ant situation; they have no update on a time table but he’s clearly out for tonight. In his place tonight will be Frightmare! Frightmare takes to the skies early with a crazy somersault onto Ophidian on the outside. At one point, Ophidian hit a spin kick straight to the ear of Hallowicked’s little buddy, disgusting stuff. Ophidian wraps up Frightmare for the flash pin in what was described as a “great match for two young guys.”

3. Sara Del Rey & Sassy Stephie vs. Daizee Haze & Hailey Hatred: Daizee and Hailey make some rather catty remarks before the match starts, something that Daizee doesn’t stop doing throughout the match. Sara pins Hailey Hatred with the butterfly suplex in an average match.

4. Lince Dorado vs Escorpion Egipcio: Not much that was notable; nothing bad, but nothing really outstanding. Lince went for a hurricanrana but Escorpion caught him and thought about a Liger bomb, but Scorp tossed Lince for a huge Border Toss to get the win in about ten minutes.

5. Chuck Taylor & Icarus [0] [F.I.S.T.] vs. Soldier Ant & Fire Ant [0] [The Colony]: No sightings of the new green ant from last night. A war breaks out amongst the two teams after last night, with crazy brawling all around the arena and dives galore between both teams. After a heated brawl, things got a bit too out of control as Icarus removed Soldier Ant’s mask, which prompted Fire Ant to foul him for a double DQ in about 13 minutes. Chuck ran in after the decision and kneed Fire in the groin, then declared “One down, two to go…”

Intermission. Mantis yelled at some kid for wearing a Notre Dame shirt, being sure to let him know that “this is Nittany Lions country!”

6. Hydra & Tim Donst [Sea Donsters] & Create-A-Wrestler vs. Vin Gerard, Colin Delaney & STIGMA [The UnStable]: The commentary dream team of Ultramantis Black and Chuck Taylor doing the booth work for this matchup. Vin mocks Hydra early, making fun of the Mini-Monster. A classic CHIKARA triple suplex spot early. In a strange bit of coincidence, STIGMA broke Create-a-Wrestler’s nose, blood leaking everywhere. Hydra attempted a Hydralock but missed, and Colin caught Hydra with an Attitude Adjuster for the pinfall win in about 13 minutes. With two trios wins this weekend, this makes a strong case for The UnStable to enter King of Trios.

7. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Gran Akuma: Not many details, the match really sucked in the crowd and left little time for discussion. Huge dives, a replay of their Ricola bomb to Yoshi Tonic spot that won F.I.S.T. the CdP in 2006, tons of great mat wrestling; just a true clinic. Match of the night by far, a huge standing O. Claudio wins in 14 minutes with a screwdriver. Just an amazing match.

8. Cheech & Cloudy [0] vs Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw [1]: As expected, the match starts with a load of wacky dives all over the place from all four men. Quack spends a lot of time stretching lil’ Cloudy to high heavens, putting him in all sorts of crazy submission holds. After a ton of back and forth action, Quack debuts the Quackendriver IV on Cloudy for the victory in 16 minutes. Really great match.

9. CHIKARA Young Lions Cup ~ V1: Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen (c) vs Amasis: The two go strong at it early, Jimmy looking for retribution for his loss to Amasis last night in Reading. Jimmy accidentally chops the ring post early in nasty fashion, screwing up his hand big time. The ref got caught up in the action and ended up getting bumped; Ophidian and Escorpion ran in to try and take Equinox out. Lince dove on Ophidian and took him out but Escorpion hit a nasty Border Toss on Equinox…but he kicks out once the ref gets back up! Amasis goes for a Tiger Suplex but Jimmy rolls through to get the win! The Funky Pharoh is none too pleased after the match, a whole lotta pouting.

In one of the showthreads on chikarafans.com I saw something like "Still working on it, release TBA"...

Fourth ant FIST in the KoT surprised me tbh, thought the ants will make it. Overall some results I didnt expect, cant wait to see the DVDs.

Now I really hope on Colt Cabana in Claudio's team, this would own big times Twiggy vs Uno makes me happy, looks like the issues with the canadians are solved then again even if their seems no one of them in the two shows (shame on me when I overlooked one)

Personally im not surpised that the Ants didn't make it to KOT. They made it to the semi finals last year and then won the Tag world Grand Prix. So it would probably be too obvious that they would have a long run in KOT. Plus the Colony is over as hell anyway.

I had to Babel Fish the bad boy, but a french fan site I found had at least a partial list of what will be on it, and another site had Disc 1 matches. But if they're "still working on it", I doubt they're legit.
