Having him wrestle in the X Division was fine except the X Division nowadays is absolutely horrible. He was just brought in at the wrong time though because he really should have been doing stuff with guys like Joe, Styles, and Angle. However, that was impossible given the MEM/Frontline feud going on.

Yeah ideally Tanahashi should've been in there with the top guys in TNA, unfortunately the timing was wrong and I don't blame them for pulling him out. He wasn't getting jobbed out, but he wasn't really doing anything worth having him there either.
Definitely gonna check out the show, last year's show was very enjoyable. Presumably only the TNA matches will air on the Impact special, hopefully in full.
Tanahashi was suppose to be with TNA for an extended period of time, but was pulled by NJPW because TNA was mishandling him.
From what Meltzer wrote, he wasn't planed to stay much longer with TNA. Apparently he was sent there for some footage to build to the Muta match for the Dome Show (or something like that).
I'm a big Tanahashi fan, and I too want him to be pushed in TNA as top talent. But I understand why they didn't do it, he was there only for a short period of time and no one knew him, he got no crowd reactions.
That would be applicable if Sabin and Shelley win the TNA Tag Titles, but New Japan is more important than TNA.
I am sorry if what I said was misunderstood, I meant to say this is the only gold they are going to get cause TNA sure as hell don't know how to use these talented workers.
Some notes from wrestlers post match:
-Mistico said that he'd like to return to New Japan in February, and wants a shot at the Jr. Heavyweight title
-After winning their match, Liger suggested teaming up with Sano in NOAH
-The Machine Guns said that if anybody wants to take the titles from them, they'll have to fly to America to do it
-After Angle made Anderson tap, Bernard hit him with a Bernard Driver. Angle wants revenge on Bernard, so expect to see them in a singles match at some point
-After Nagata retained, Ohtani said that he would like to challenge him next. Nagata said that it would cheapen the title to take on somebody he's beaten so recently, and suggested that and "out of season" Fire Festival to determine a worthy rival
-Akiyama is more than willing to do more interpromotional matches
-Nakamura and Goto seem to be offering an open challenge to any NOAH team that wants to face them
-Misawa said that he'd like to see NOAH and New Japan work together in both rings this year
-Mutoh has said that he is done in New Japan, as he passed the torch to Tanahashi and leaves the company and its wrestlers to move forward
-Tanahashi stated after the match that he'd like to take on Nakamura as his first opponent. Tanahashi lost to Nakamura twice last year in title matches.
I'd love to see it happen, and it would help NOAH more than New Japan, considering NOAH's losing a good deal of their TV exposure and haven't been drawing too big of crowds lately.
