He will have a long standing feud with Okada that going to have multiple classic encounters. Remember the intro of the main event: THE FIRST BATTLE!

Don't think he's going anywhere. Just a break. Apparently he'll be back before the NJPW cup.

This would be the opportune time to make the switch. His stock will never be any higher and he'll never be any younger. That said, no way he's leaving NJPW. Not if he's at all about what he says he is. I wouldn't fault him from taking the bread though.

Talking Re: Kenny Omega stepping away from Japan

You guys are really going to let Kenny Omega work you this easily?

Being the evil gaijin WWE-Global Wrestling Monopoly guy is his gimmick in New Japan.

He has done multiple shoot interviews in the past few months talking about wanting to achieve the highest level of success in Japan before even considering WWE.

A 5* match that he lost is not the highest level of success he can achieve in New Japan and he knows that. Also Kidani isn't as dumb as ROH. They learned from those 1-year deals they were giving out. They wouldn't have given him that big push between G-1 and now if they didn't have him locked up.

Omega in WWE would be like Hall and Nash in WCW. It would take months of him being on tv for me to believe that he wasn't an agent for New Japan trying to screw the WWE somehow.

It's quite clearly a work. Maybe taking some time off but since this is the Royal Rumble season, he is teasing the fans to keep an eye out for him while he is resting and getting a good laugh.

Re: Kenny Omega stepping away from Japan

I'm not really an Omega fan, but it's absolutely the best thing for him.

The problem is when you lose at the Dome esp as a title challenger you go into limbo. The alternative is that he sticks around and teams with the Bucks and we saw what wonders they did for him last year from February until August. Be gone and stay gone until after Invasion Attack (have him beat down Okada after Okada beats the NJC winner. They need to use NJC to try and elevate a new guy not the guy they just gave the G1 to. Let Shibata or Ishii have a taste)

Re: Kenny Omega stepping away from Japan

In one of the podcasts Meltzer said that Omega is probably going to get the belt just before G1 special to have some extra momentum before coming to the states. So taking a break till then makes some sense.

Good idea but I would prefer a big year for Sanada over those two. He would be a pleasant surprise winning the NJC or G-1. I think you can elevate Shibata or Ishii to Intercontinental level without those wins.
