Who Did You Mark For As A Kid?

Just wondering who everyone was a massive fan of when they were younger and watching wrestling. For me, it's Bryan Danielson, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Osamu Nishimura, Jushin Liger, CM Punk, SAT, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Shane, Doug Williams, Da Hit Squad, Paul London and Spanky. I didn't watch WWE when I was little so all my childhood favourites are from ROH or NJPW since that's really all I watched.

It is very interesting looking back at who I loved as a kid, because of course it is way different as an adult now. Puts in perspective why WWE pushes the likes of John Cena, etc.

With that said Sting was my absolute favorite. My fondest memory is watching Starrcade '97 to see Sting finally return to the ring after a year or so of silence. My whole family watched - I can even remember where we were all sitting and me being SO excited. In retrospect that match sucked, but as a 7 year old that didn't matter to me. Sting was back and he was the new champ!

I also remember marking for Chris Jericho when he was the cleancut babyface. I thought it was so cool how he threw himself up against the guard rail for all the fans to touch him.

For some reason at that same time period I was super inspired by Juventud Guerrera. As silly as it was, when I was in gym class and winded, tired, etc I would tell my self to "Never Surrender" (I believe that was his catchphrase then). I wanted to be "The Juice".

I totally symphatize with that. Myself born in 94 I only knew of wwe 2002-2006 then one night in 2006 I was flicking the tv and tna was on eurosport I became a huge Aj styles mark. Thats also around the time I started really using the internet before that the internet was basicly msn web messenger and playing games online for me but I then typed in tna and learned how to download from torrentsites which lead me to a whole new world of a bunch of wrestling companies.

I grew up with the Attitude Era and the Invasion so I was a huge Jericho fan. I loved The Rock, Austin, Taker, Kane and HHH.

When I was a little older watching from '02-'05 onwards I was a huge mark for HHH and Evolution on Raw and Brock and JBL on SmackDown

Once I discovered the indies and the internet became a tool I became a fan of Bryan Danielson, Prince Devitt, KENTA, El Generico, Kevin Steen and PAC

Devitt and Bryan are the reason I am going to wrestling school when I'm ready and able and entering the business myself

I grew up watching WWF/E and a little TNA once I found it. I'd say Jeff Hardy, Raven, Triple H, DX and AJ Styles. I discovered indy wrestling in 2007/8 and Nick Mondo was my favorite, and later Drake Younger. Pretty much followed deathmatches exclusively for years until I got a little older.

Weird note: I was a big fan of Essa Rios as a kid. I never seen him wrestle, but I really enjoyed his characters moveset in Smackdown! 2.

Just out of interest, how do you come to be a big fan of ROH and NJPW as a kid in England. I'm guessing they didn't have TV time or anything, so was a deal where your Dad was a hardcore wrestling fan and watched the shows on the net or were you a very internet savy kid? I just ask because I feel like it's pretty damn uncommon for a western kid to grow up watching indy promotions and Japan but not WWE.

I grew up on WWE and WCW. I was a typical cheer the babyfaces, boo the heels kid, so Sting and Bret were my main men as a really young kid, and then Stone Cold, Rock, Goldberg, etc. became my favourites. It's pretty boring, but I liked the top babyfaces. I liked everyone really. Pretty much everyone with few exceptions (I hated the ICP Oddities for example), if they were on the wrestling, I took them seriously and I liked them.

My dad and uncle had been massive NJPW fans since the 80's and my uncle used to get the ROH DVD's. I got into wrestling about 2002ish so that was the stuff I ended up watching with them.

From 2002 to 2006, I'd say Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, John Cena, Matt Hardy, Eddie Guerrero, Batista, Christian Cage and the entire TNA X-Division.

As a kid: Undertaker,Shawn Michaels,Eddie Guerrero,Shawn Michaels,Rey Mysterio Edge,Batista, John Cena as the dr of thuganomics and early on as the marine. Think I liked the guy probably until 08 when I started understanding wrestling. I really hated Jbl. Looking back on it I liked pretty much all the babyfaces as a kid.

As a teenager/young adult - Angle,Benoit,Punk,Styles,Cesaro,Nakamura,Okada,Ibushi,Prince Devitt,Sasha Banks,Seth Rollins,Kevin Steen/Owens,Adam Cole,Riccochet,Enzo Amore.

Started watching wrestling in 02 at the age of 8 wwe only. Got into tna around 06 and japanese/indies in the late 2000s.

The first person I remember marking out for was "The Rocket" Owen Hart.

Good question!

I started watching in the early 90s and I was WWF bound. And back then, it was real to me, dammit! ?

So I marked for Bret Hart, Bulldog, LOD, Hot Rod and Savage.

I restarted watching around 2004, I think. I rewatched the AE and started watching WWE again and also TNA.
I loved Rock, Austin, Angle, Edge, Christian, Dudleyz, Hardyz, Ministry of Darkness, Samoa Joe, Motor City Machine Guns, 3/4 Live Kru.

Damn, I realy love Wrestling tbh! But sometimes it's hard to watch nowadays!
