Re: Would be shocked if people turned on Ring of Honor for going national
I think the WWE about is concerned ROH just because they are owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. The reality is that Sinclair was far greater resources than anyone in wrestling , including the WWE . I would imagine the WWE does not want ROH to grow , then Sinclair might actually put some capital in ROH
.Right ROH is just floating along on a bare bones budget. However they did get the DA deal done , they got the NESN deal done , they got the PPV deal done , they restarted ippv . locked talent down , the NJPW relationship is strong and the house business is up about 30 % . Joe Koff is proven to be a capable businessman.
I don't think the WWE will be able to stop ROH from signing talent . A few people may be scared off from signing with ROH , but not many. The bottom line is as long as Sinclair owns ROH , they will have at least regional TV . There is really no way Vince can knock Sinclair out of the wrestling business. SB just has too many money to be forced out.
TNA is of no concern to the WWE , their business is trending downward. Dixie Carter has proven to just the opposite of Joe Koff , a complete failure.
All that said ROH has a long way to go before they are any kind of competition for the WWE. It appears that the WWE just wants to try and kill ROH before they grow any type of threat . Should be an interesting rest of the year .
