Safety Mats

the big two never seem to have this issue but indy and Lucha shows especially like ECW and CZW tend to have no mats at ringside

I distinctly remember people joking about how "this ain't Disneyland" but I can't help but fear for these guy's safety you know

when I watch a Mexican promotion that mat-less floor make me wonder, does it give off the notion that no dive goes uncaught? have there ever been any occasions when a dive to the outside failed? the risktaker getting nothing but floor

Its just a matter of illusion vs physical well being and weather or not having safety mats makes it seem more real and suspenseful or just stupid especially when some poor soul does f up

EDIT:Aerostar's "Trust Fall", in name and execution is one such example of what I mean

Re: Safety Mats

Of course there have been many instances where a dive has done uncaught, whether intentionally or unitentionally. Realistically, I don't think a mat would help that much. I'm sure there's some legal stuff that makes them required in places (IIRC ECW was required to use them in their New York shows back in the day but I'm not certain) and probably some scientific stuff that says they help, but ultimately if a guy is falling from 9-12 feet and hits the floor, he'a getting hurt whether it's concrete or a 1 inch mat on the floor (Which if I remember correctly, are pretty hard themselves)
