WWE doesn’t like it when anybody else makes even a single penny from wrestling. WWE doesn’t like it when any other promotion is considered “cool.”
Triple H is tired of being thought of as the “son-in-law.” The guy who married into running WWE/wrestling, and wouldn’t do so under any other circumstances.
Triple H especially hates that because it’s true.
So Triple H is killing two birds with one stone. He’s going to wipe out ROH and make NXT – his perceived brainchild – the “cool” promotion.
That means the clock is ticking for Ring of Honor. My over/under is 18 months. Then, no more ROH.
It won’t be ROH’s fault. Sinclair Broadcast Group can keep ROH going as long as it wants. It just won’t want. Good money after bad.
WWE hired Jimmy Jacobs to be “creative” – and to be WWE’s conduit to ROH talent. He’ll be much better at the latter than the former.
NXT is ROH, but with 50 times the production values. Step 1.
NXT has that feel of the old territories, and that’s meant in a good way. Step 2.
The internet marks – the markiest marks of all – love NXT. Step 3.
NXT has WWE drop-ins. Damaging long-term, but helpful short-term. Step 4.
NXT will now proceed to strip ROH of its prime talent. Checkmate.
Forget Ring of Honor how about CZW that shit is something else?
I couldn't care less about Ring of Honor and I don't think the company's is folding anytime soon they are what the 4th largest wrestling company in the US they'll be fine
People thought they were fucked when they lost Punk, Joe, Cabana and Homicide - They just made Nigel, Danielson and Aries. People thought they were fucked when they lost Nigel, Aries and Danielson - The just made Davey and Tyler black. People thought they were fucked when they lost Tyler, Hero and Claudio - They just made Generico, Steen, Cole and Briscoe.
Absolutely true. Gotta give ROH credit for that, especially Gabe post-Feinstein.
The only sad thing is that with each new batch of stars, there's less connection with the people than the last. It's weird that when these big stars leave nowadays, it takes longer for a new group to come into their own than when Gabe was there. Way back when, you had your top stars but at the same time there were another group of younger guys ripe and ready to take charge. More seamless transitions, I guess.
I don't know, talent is not the main issue. Touring in the same areas around the same time will be the issue. I think NXT is about to do ECW arena shows and will probably do a show in NYC the same night as the ROH baseball stadium show. Other than that, ROH will be fine as long as Sinclair bankroll them.
Is NXT really going after ROH when ROH is the one that decided to run a show in San Francisco area on Wrestlemania weekend or a show in a baseball stadium in Brooklyn the same weekend WWE is having Summerslam in Brooklyn?
People are really overestimated the WWE . Sinclair Broadcasting Corporation is 3 times larger than the WWE . Sinclair could buy and sell the WWE several times and have money to spare . Don't believe , just google Sinclair Broadcasting. You will see that the market cap for SBC stock is around $ 3 billion dollars , the WWE is not even worth a billion anymore .. SBC is not sweating NXT.
Sinclair will continue to run ROH and there nothing that Vince and his goofy son in law can do to stop them . Whoever wrote this article did zero research and/or they are a complete mark for the WWE.

All this hate and complaining about WWE/NXT is funny given that ROH is trying to do the same thing to the indies that people are claiming WWE/NXT is trying to do to ROH. ROH keeps signing exclusive deals to stop indies from using certain wrestlers. They wanna sign the Young Bucks exclusively, an act that many indies rely on to be headliners. They specifically want to keep wrestlers out of PWG and they already pulled 4 wrestlers put of there.
ROH is and always will be a small promotion that gives wrestlers the opportunity to showcase there skills, which in turn will hopefully earn them a move to a bigger promotion such as WWE where they can earn life changing amounts of money.
Any talent that ROH loses they will find more, they always have and always will.
Not this time. The level of indy raiding done by WWE in this era is unprecedented. Any wrestler even with bare minimum momentum and a little fame is getting snatched. Not to mention NXT is a flat out wankfest targeted at indy fans. ROH can't create new stars and survive like in the past, with NXT being this aggressive and relentless.
Dude roh last ppv was in a conference room in vegas that goes for like 200 bucks an hour and ROH never runs shows in arenas, just community centers, and here in chicago ROH tapes tv in a roach infested fieldhouse that cost $100 an hour to rent.
I would just like to note that the article is an editorial - meaning it is strictly the opinions of Mark Madden. Not some sort of report stating that NXT is taking over ROH.
I really don't think WWE has any plans on trying to put ROH out of business. They pose no threat to them at all. I mean I understand that during Wrestlemania weekend they can be an annoyance and everything but it's not like WWE struggles to get people to go to any of their events.
And the whole thing with NXT running shows in the ECW Arena also isn't a big deal. If anything you are just going to get a bunch of people excited over the fact that in 5 days they get to see 2 NXT shows and 2 ROH/New Japan shows. I don't think many people will be forced to pick and chose between the two.
Until WWE starts needlessly signing away ROH talent or there is an instance when ROH has a show booked in a city and WWE then announces their show at the same time in the same area I'm not going to buy that WWE is trying to put ROH under.
And I don't know how they'll do it... it might be slow moving as it gains momentum, but I don't see anything the WWE doing slowing that momentum. I mean, NXT is basically the only thing and I bet most watch both happily.
RoH... I don't know what it is, but it just hasn't been the same in years.
Not to mention Steen has been the only really big steal from ROH since Rollins and Cesaro and Steen had nothing left to prove. Cole signed a multi year deal. Briscoe's is they go again have nothing to prove in ROH. This is natural order of things. People seem to forget that ROH got their hands on more talent from WWE and TNA then they lost. Recently in Styles, Hero, ADR, The Addiction, and Sydel.
HHH isn't dumb enough to kill off ROH, CZW, PWG and so forth cause he needs them to get his talent ready for NXT. HHH comes from that territory mentality and knows that these feds are integral to the business.
ROH has been getting "raided" for years and they're still going. Fans can cry and moan all they want but it'd be foolish for WWE not to sign the best & brightest off the indy scene.
In an update to that story, The Wrestling Observer is reporting WWE is no longer considering the venue, as the company wants to run bigger arena like Philadelphia’s Liacouris Center at Temple University.
In addition, on the Saturday night before a PPV Sunday, WWE is looking to start running NXT live events in the PPV city. This of course would put NXT head-to-head against ROH, something Mark Madden foreshadowed
Wwe think just because they did good numbers on the biggest weekend of the year that they can duplicate the same for other ppvs weekends. Lol, they about to slowly kill nxt.
Roh hasnt been entertaining in years. Atleast not to me. There was a time I never missed an episode of roh but now I just tune in once in a while because of guys like Adam Cole and Jay Briscoe. I wish there was more competition. Luchaunderground isnt for me. Tna isnt for me. Pwg def isnt for me. Roh isnt for me anymore. New japan and nxt are my two favorite wrestlingproducts so I dont mind nxt killing roh if it means the guys in nxt will be used good and make money.
The WWE cannot put ROH , TNA , NJPW or LU out of business. All of these promotions have too much money behind them .
The WWE did not put ECW or WCW out of business , that is all revisionist history. ECW did great business, but all the cash was drained out of the business by Paul E. Ted Turner sold WCW and the new owners shut it down.
Triple HHH can cherry pick a few guys , that happens all of the time .. Sinclair is just too rich and powerful to by threaten by the WWE . Same for Panda Energy .
