WON Awards including UFC?

So I went through some WON awards and MMA fighters won some of them. How stupid is that? You can't compare a real sport with a scripted sport.

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

Isn't their thinking that there are certain things from wrestling that the MMA world is doing better?

And the NFL is doing certain things better too... so what?
Pro Wrestling can't be mixed with other sports. It's just stupid.

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

He's talked about roller derby too (guess not in the awards), so... there are some similarities in the way the shows are promoted (but not with NFL or other "major" sports)

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

Stupid leap in logic, when boxing was at it's apex in America it wasn't compared to the equally popular pro-wrestling. It's just lazy ass Meltzer combining two things he covers so he doesn't have to do more work to give out awards.

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

To be fair the awards are voted on by subscribers. So any non MMA specific category awarded to a fighter is decided by the fans not Meltzer

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

But the MMA fighters shouldn't even be available for voting! Meltzer decided that and therefore it's his fault

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

Specifically, which awards did they win? Were they exclusive MMA awards or just generic ones.

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

For non-MMA specific awards:

Best Box Office Draw: Ronda Rousey
Feud of the Year: Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier

Re: WON Awards including UFC?

Not a problem with those adwards. UFC fighters are draws and have feuds.
