Re: Help me to understand the Okada appeal.

Those matches are awesome, and I remember people really being on the Goto/Naito train back then. Now I'm not sure that they're better options that Okada, Tanahashi and Okada, or Shibata and Ishii for that matter, for the top spot.

If i had to make a comparison to a wwe guy, he reminds me of legend killer randy orton. Young, brash, and effortlessly better than most in the ring

He just makes everything look so effortless. I never thought I'd mark for something as simple as an elbow drop or dropkick in this age but that's what the Rainmaker made me do.

Goto deserves to be a transitional champion at the very least. He doesn't need to be a WK main eventer, he doesn't have that type of appeal, but he does have something otherwise they wouldn't have had him win NJC 80 times.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Nakamura/Okada/Tanahashi need to stay on the top of the card. They're the 3 biggest stars. They're building a new star in Ibushi who's going to transition into the HW division.

If they're going to push anyone in the 2nd tier it should be Naito. Goto is a fucking charisma vaccuum. Naito pre-injury was ready. He got hurt, and they pushed him too quickly. He wasn't fully recovered. Now he's back to being a wrestling "genius."

I can't take anyone serious who thinks Goto should be pushed alongside the likes of NJPWs big 3. Which one doesn't belong? Goto, correct.

Shibata won't be pushed due to political reasons. Ishii...he's not ready yet. And he needs time off.

Re: Help me to understand the Okada appeal.

He is not a better worker than tanahashi, suzuki and nagata but he is very good.

I think he just connects with the japanese culture.

He looks like a hero out of a final fantasy game or a manga comic. Add to that his killer signature moves. He is destined to dominate japanese wrestling

He has my fav entrance song in wrestling right now. That is weight lifting music like i never heard before

Re: Help me to understand the Okada appeal.

Okada is amazing. I don't see a problem with having a formula of signature moves since ALL wrestlers have them.

Ibushi, Naito, and Ishii all have the credibility and talent to be moved into the top spot.

I have no idea how long Styles will remain in NJPW.

Goto, Suzuki, Makabe, and Nagata are Upper-Mid carders and credible opponents.

Tanahashi and Shinsuke are still popular so why break what is working?

The worst thing they can do is rush someone to the mainevent before they are ready.

WCW fans who can't let go of the past are killing pro-wrestling today. There I said it.

Legend Killer Orton is a very good comparison but I was thinking a main eventing Ziggler.

Re: Help me to understand the Okada appeal.

I'm apparently in the minority as being lukewarm on Okada. He's good, but never done anything that 'really' appealed to me.

Shinsuke's my boy.

Every wrestler has a "five moves of doom" setup.

Naito if not for his injury may have won the IWGP title this year, but he's starting to bounce back. Styles unless he doesn't like going to Japan once a month will likely be there for a while. Especially after his matches in the G1.
